I want to live in a fair and equitable society. I want to be back in the EU. I despise the tories, and want to be free of them. I`m bewildered how swathes of people voted for the tories at the last two general elections. I`m gobsmacked that tory MPs and party members can conclude that Truss is a suitable individual to be leading the country. I have contempt for the establishment of the House of Lords. Thank goodness I`m Scottish and will have the opportunity again before too long to do something about it.

I have just analysed what this means for me.

Whilst I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth and more money in my pocket is to be welcomed, I can't really defend who gets more money and where the help really should go.

Yes, things are more expensive this year for me, but luckily I am not in the 'heat or eat' bracket and this is where the cuts should go. My financial decisions revolve around a lot more 1st world problems than the basic necessities. Unfortunately, these cuts will do nothing to those that are genuinely struggling.

I get the economic principles behind it (and as raw economic theory with no other outside factors or evaluation of current state agree to some extent), but it is badly executed at completely the wrong time and in poor taste with the current state of affairs.

You havent made a socialist out of me yet, but from someone who swings from slightly right to the middle and back again, I have moved a lot more centre and maybe even moved further to quote the lyrics from Beyonce and 'Irreplaceable'

It's pretty shocking when the markets react so negatively to a plan that is intended to enrich the comfortable. Markets usually like that sort of thing!

It takes real effort to alarm the bankers because you're giving so much money to the bankers.

What economic principles can possibly justify putting the country into unprecedented debt , at a time when the cost of borrowing is going up? It’s not just morally indefensible, it seems economically indefensible also.

Taken from a textbook of economics, there is some reason to it. But the textbook was written by a Tory in the 80s to be fair.

I assume they are banking on losing and leaving labour with an economic disaster that they will both blamed for happening (unless it really properly hits pre-election, but even then mental gymnastics will occur) and blamed for trying to fix with presumably unpopular tax rises

If they don’t lose then I don’t know what happens then.

They are already blaming the last Labour government for the energy crisis, blaming the one that hasn't yet taken office for everything else should be a doddle.

Even Daily Mail comments are scathing about the budget today (despite the paper itself typically lauding it).

If they can’t convince that group then they are scuppered.

Really do wonder if they reckon the gigs up so they are trying to steal as much from the country as they can over the next two years.

The good news is, I have found the fabled Brexit unicorn.
The bad news is that it has washed up on a Spanish beach.

    From best for Britain.
"Not content to dole out treats to the highest income brackets, the Chancellor also made sure to name whom he has identified as the culprits behind Britain’s economic malaise: part-time workers on benefits. Choosing to ignore the fact that such part-time workers are predominantly single parents, disabled people and unpaid carers, he announced sweeping cuts to their benefits should they choose not to shirk the responsibilities that allow them to work only part-time and take on more hours. At last, the downtrodden financiers have a lifeline, while the fat cats of the working poor will pay up."

Sing along, finger up yer arse and follow the bouncing ball.

She was poor but she was honest
    Victim of the Colonel’s whim
First he wooed her then seduced her
And she had a child by him.

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

Then she went away to London
For to hide her grief and shame
But she met an army captain
And she lost her name again

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

    In the little country cottage
    Where her saddened parents live
Though they drink the fizz she sends ‘em
    Yet they never can forgive.

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

Now she’s standing in the gutter
Selling matches a penny a box
While he’s riding in his carriage
With an awful dose of pox

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

See him in a grand theater
    Eating chocolate in the pit
While the poor girl what he ruined
Wanders round through mud and ****

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

See him in the House of Commons
Making laws to put down crime
While the victim of his passion
Slinks around to hide her shime

It’s the same the whole world over
    Isn’t it a bleedin’ shame?!?
It’s the rich what gets the pleasure
And the poor what gets the blame.

Now she’s livin’ in the cottage
    But she very rarely smiles
    And her only occupation
Is cracking ice for grandad’s piles.
