Can’t believe I’m asking this, but would you drop him to the bench? We looked a class apart when he went off last night, the best we’ve played all season and ultimately was what changed the game. Credit to Embleton too by the way, I literally laughed when he came on, but what do I know <laugh>

Following that cameo from Bennette I would stick him in the middle. Clarke n Roberts on the wing and him in the middle. Fk me the pace will rip any team apart if we play it on the ground.

He was absolutely ****ing rapid wasn't he? Also had a very good first touch. I said on the match thread can mot be underestimated how good of a cameo that was for a lad who is young come half way around the world to play, different language culture the lot and he came on and grabbed the opportunity with both hands to show he had something about him.

Our new way of doing recruitment is absolutely class like we are buying players with the right attitude, this squad has to be the best we have seen in 20 plus years for having a great attitude!

Be interesting to see what he does, I don't think Simms will make it but if they give him some sort of injection if its not broken and then they play him it would be a risk of making it worse longer term with Stewart also out.

I'd be tempted not to play him and go with Embo in as an additional midfielder. Watford will be very different to Reading.

First touch and one touch makes a massive difference at any level ...

... Simms, and tbh Stewart, aren't the best at continuing an attack.

I know that'll be unpopular but I've thought it for the last two seasons.

Stewarts work rate means he is an automatic starter for me inc his defensive work but we showed last night we can mix it up. Watford will be a different proposition but I fear nowt with the team we have now.

Watford have got their own problems as well it would seem. (Without wanting to derail the thread)....

If that f**ki*g waster @RTB got himself organised, and not out on the piss at Reading, he'd have the Watford thread up by now ...

... what are we paying the lad for <doh>

Embo in for Simms for me. It is a tough ask for Pritch but I thought he did really well in that position. Honestly, you just have to let them go again when they have played so well. I wouldnt be Simms biggest fan at this stage, but I think he will play a part somewhere, and wouldnt be a bad option of the bench would he?

It's hard to know if we played like that after Simms went off because the team was set up better or because it gave us a jolt and energised us.

I think we could still play that brand of football with a target man so I'd play Simms if he were somehow fine. It's not like when Stewart is back Embleton's going to keep him out so we should probably stick with the plan.

I'm not sure though. I just tend to think it was more about an instant attitude change than we hit upon the perfect combination of players that will be able to do it again and again.

Roberts up front let him keep cutting in and getting shots off like Clarke ! Pritchard needs shooting practice like Embleton but if all 4 click plus the new lads we are top 6. Win tomorrow and 45,000 for the next home game( a long wait that will have been as well)

Only way to find out is by having another look at it at some stage at the team without a target man, personally I would go without Simms tomorrow if he is not 100%. He has a big part to play in our season no doubt, but he is not irreplaceable, and that is just as it should be imo.

Hard choice for the manager to make. Stewart is easy, if fit he plays. Simms in the other hand he will have to look at it and how the lads played without him! I would go with the set up we had when he went off personally but can understand why he might go striaght back in!

I wouldn't disagree mate I'm not sure either way. Agreed if Simms isn't 100% he should be rested and we go with the team that ripped Reading apart.

not trying to say that simms did not have a problem but he did seem a bit 'over dramatic' when he went down, we have to remember he is still a young lad and may not feel quite ready to lead our front line.

he has plenty to offer and has the makings of a good striker but if he does not feel ready or confident enough then it might not be the best for him or us.

if he is ready to play i would be tempted to bring him on later in the game along with diallo and bennette, some speed and power in there for tiring defenders to cope with.

I wouldn't be overly concerned if Simms doesn't start today. When Stewart got injured I felt the key thing was for Mowbray to find a way to score goals without him. He's done that now and Simms doesn't necessarily have to be part of that. No point risking Simms when we have 2 weeks off immediately after the game

I'm pleased someone else thought that, I said when he was punching the ground that he was too dramatic and he wants to come off, Looking at Mowbray's reaction when the rest of the lads were taking drinks, I don't think he was overly impressed either.

there is also the chance i am completely wrong and the lad was genuinely completely deflated as he saw it as his chance to show what he can do...but the fact he punched the ground over and over every time he went down is what got me thinking it was a bit over the top.

He's never looked like a player who wants to hide and shy away from the big occasion to me, as far as I'm concerned he was pissed off because he knew it was something relatively minor but as much as he wanted to he couldn't go on.
