The nice things is the likes of Ballard and Cirkin are not necessarily guaranteed to start when they return. Stewart is probably the only one who will come straight back in.
When during the transfer window we saw young skillful fast players being brought in I thought of the Spain model and wondered if that was the aim of our recruitment. Then add the extension Man City has with Haaland, substitute Ross. I think we have a very exciting time ahead for us, so buckle up and enjoy the ride. The futures bright, the future is SAFC.
Highlights - to be watched a few hundred times http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2022/september/reading/highlights-vs-reading
The final pass looks like it was slightly over hit and slightly inaccurate then Clarke used his invisible string that he had attached to the ball and give it a yank towards him.
One of our fans on twitter said they have a great manager. I’ve never rated him! He’s another one of the Sol Cambell brigade who appear to think the world owes them something because of their skin colour. His son acted like a spoilt brat all night as well. And their fans loved it. He’s miles from what I would want anywhere near our side. Just looked like everything was everyone else’s fault last night
Can't stop watching replays of that third goal. The speed, fluidity, and accuracy of every pass, flick and cross made Reading look like they'd put out 6-foot tall Subbuteo players. And the balance and composure of Clarke's finish was nothing less than a thing of beauty. I don't hear footy called "the beautiful game" much these days (and it certainly wasn't in League One) but that display was worthy of the name.
from the games i have watched (non safc) watford had what looked like a good attack, mind that was against boro who were as bad then as we were against boro. i think reading just had one of those games like we did at boro, everyone had an off game and just struggled to get anything going but once we started they had no chance and if we had put the same performance in at boro we would have walked it...think the reading game will give the lads one hell of a boost and deservedly so, maybe they were wondering if they could 'slug it out' in the championship but i honestly feel they know they can more than hold thier own. ballard and cirkin were excellent and i do not want to take that away from them but this 'new look' back line was completely solid last night, i think reading were only allowed two attempts on target, one a weakish header and the shot from young ince and a solid defensive line allows the rest of the team to just go and play, it allows them to try those little touches and flicks as they know there is good protection behind them...it also shows the confidence within the squad.
The commentator pointed out that Reading had won all their previous 4 home games with similar stats to the first 20+ mins last night, when they had had one touch in our penalty area, compared to our 8 and 4 corners? in theirs, this is how they play evidently. Looking forward already to the Watford game to see what their tactics are, they have won or drawn games I have watched by sitting on one goal leads, they cant do this with us imo so they will have to attack they have the players to do it mind, and we have the players to counter, it makes this league a real pleasure to watch compared to L1, and I expect our attendances at home will hit the roof soon if we keep playing the way we are.
The commentary from Barnes and Benno for Clarke’s goal is superb. Barnes genuinely seems buzzing, that’s not usually the case…
Me too, recorded the whole match last night have watched the full 90 again this morning and keep replaying that 3rd goal.
