I've always thought it daft that someone can be played onside by a defender who might be 30 yards away across the pitch with no chance of catching them, yet given offside even with a defender inches away.
As we've said before the rule was introduced to prevent blatant goal-hanging - someone having the balance or vision to be just that fraction of a second faster off the mark than his opponent should be rewarded, not penalised.

 

That was going to be my next comment when someone inevitable questioned what I put

I'm not arguing, just discussing. My professional career has involved judgement of angles and perspective, and from the pics I saw he looks onside. Perhaps there are some that give a different view.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach John Achterberg was charged by the FA in the aftermath of the drama that ensued in the late win against Newcastle last month.

Both Achterberg and Newcastle‘s head of performance, Daniel Hodges, were charged for “improper” behaviour,” with the Reds’ coach alleged to have used “abusive and/or insulting gestures.”

A decision has now been handed down by the FA, with both Achterberg and Hodges receiving fines and a ban.

Achterberg has been fined £7,000 by an independent Regulatory Commission and is banned from the touchline for one fixture, meaning he will not be on the bench against Brighton on October 1.

Bet Newcastle are still stewing over that extra time, but they shouldn’t have tried to waste as many minutes as they did! Will they have learnt their lesson?

Let’s do away with Offside altogether, now that would be fun to watch .

 

Yep, it would mean defenders had to defend free kicks instead of running away from strikers when the ball is played into the box. One defender might even have to stay back if a striker from the opposition stays up
Imagine if a player who was faster to react, leaned forward slightly further because he was taller or maybe just had bigger feet was allowed to gain "unfair advantage" (the official crime of offside) because of any of these things. Shocking

 

Obviously folks have never seen a game without offside and how ****e it is.

Offside predates modern football and it long predates nets on goals!

1863 folks. Offside is absolutely fundamental part of football. Delete it and you might as well go look at sports like garlic football or Australian rules for what will happen.

Definition of off side, a player seeking to gain unfair advantage. It was never intended for cowardly defences to run away from where they know the ball will be played at free kicks to leave attackers "off side", that ploy was invented by Big Sam at Bolton and others followed suit.

So nothing to do with offside. You've an issue with running out.

You could simply wish for the further refinement of the rule from level with last man to being within a yard of the last man if said last man is facing the wrong way. (For example)

 

That just shows the farce it is.
You have obviously not read my earlier post where i mentioned an attacker being faster to react or having bigger feet or maybe leaning forward more because he's a few inches taller

I have a general problem with the way off side is now interpreted in relation to it's reason for being.
