Strong rumours the cheslea game is off. The integrity of the competition is now in question having seen some cancelled and not others due to police resources. Not all games next weekend are off. Again absolutely 100% no reason to cancel last weekends games. So now it's a snowball that will hurt the competition later. Games in the North off due to lack of police. More people on zero hours contracts to go hungry. Disgraceful really.
Just our game is off and for some reason United v Leeds? Brighton v Palace is due to train strike. Weird that Brentford v arsenal is on Sunday And spurs v Leicester is on Saturday night though.
United v Leeds requires a large police presence and some of GMP have been deployed to Scotland or London. Brentford V Arsenal does not require a large police presence. I suspect they've canned the games with the most police required so they can get as many games on as possible.
Just read about United and can understand if Manchester police are helping out. Don’t get the chelsea Liverpool one v Brentford arsenal. If the police are being used and London hectic because of what’s going on, then surely all of London games should be affected.
You've also got to consider kick off times. Sky have the rights to Chelsea v Liverpool as well as Brentford v Arsenal (I don't know if that's a late replacement though) and Everton v West Ham. The police have obviously said no to a 16:30 kick off in London. So if there's one London game that you're going to keep on and kick off at 12, it's Brentford v Arsenal. Smaller crowd and a lower profile game.
It's targetting high police presence games. They must be taking a load of plod from Manchester down London as if they can't cover a bunch of Surrey chavs having a bunch of Leeds fans visiting then it must be bad. Brentford is small ground so in theory a small away crowd and less cops But really it's just #racism This targets some clubs and not others so it has now materially affected the league.
Obviously all those crowds gathering to pay their respects for a deceased monarch are going to put an unbearable strain on the country's law-enforcement contingent.
