On the curry mile and they're letting off fireworks. Awkward.... either celebrating queen's death :bandit: or Charles ascension to the throne.

Turns out it's neither. Pakistani's brought the fireworks cos they're playing Sri Lanka in the cricket.

Everyone's cheering and I ask some dude, so Pakistan won then yeh? And he replies, no they lost but it's a shame to waste them so we let them off anyway <rofl>

It’s not really a tough one is it? We live on a small overcrowded island, anything which causes earthquakes is probably to be avoided.

Well they better hope for the quick deployment of Roll-Royce SMR….but not near them as it will impact house prices.

Suppose it's like everything in life it comes with its risks, much like building nuclear power plants are safe, as long as we don't start wars with the Russians, and cause fighting around them. <whistle>

The royalists in this country rely on the myth that the royal family is universally adored and transcends politics so that all Brits, regardless of political party, colour or religion, are united in favour of the monarchy.

It’s bollocks, of course. Republicanism is on a steady rise. The whole charade has been propped up by one uncontroversial, sweet, old lady for decades. Now her half-wit, degenerate son, who can’t even put toothpaste on his own toothbrush, is on the throne, the myth is dying. Millennials and Gen Z generally don’t give a **** about the monarchy or are hostile to the idea of it. Prince George won’t sit the throne, I’m sure of it.

and we will replace it with a President?....fooking great, that's all we need in this country, on the right I give you Trump, on the left, I give you some senial old fart, just brilliant.

Every four years, you say, people are still crying over a decision from six years ago ffs, yeah why not let's go for full out anarchy.

It’s almost like there’s different types of republics. Some have an executive presidency (USA), some share executive power between head of state and head of government/legislature (France), some have a ceremonial president with zero executive power (Ireland, Poland) and some don’t have a head of state at all (Switzerland).

All of the above are still a more mature form of state than having a head of state based on which minge they fell out of.

Trouble is mate, in todays world of social media, everyone will have the answer, until something goes against their opinion, then we will end up in a worse state then what we originally started with.

We've litterally turned into a nation of whingers, where a fair few of the population are like your example of Charles and incapable of wiping their own arses.

Personally I've got no qualms about a presidency, but I just know, it will create the same mess as all public decisions in the 21st Century. At least with the Royal Family we know the crap we are dealing with and tourists happily fill the coffers on it.

We already have plenty of ambassadors, Tony Blair being one, and sadly he's still breathing.
