No one will do what's she managed ever again. 70 years is unheard of. As your good lady has pointed out, the change in tech during her lifetime. She was on Zoom cracking on with Doctors. Over the years her family haven't helped with scandals, however she was there, dragging them back into line. Then there was Philips funeral, as said above, follows guidelines, sat alone, in her 90s following what the Government had put in place. Little did she know they were living it up on the drink.
I said to work today that with the passing of the queen and my mams terminal illness I can’t bring myself to do my work today as it’s actually got me in bits, they responded with log off and come back on if you can
I see the BBC aren't broadcasting any comedies until the period of mourning is over. So Mrs. Brown's Boys will still be on.
Sadly Charles hasn't maintained the same detachment from political bias ... ... I don't believe he'll be a popular King once the reflected glory of his mam wears off.
I don’t know how he managed that, the day after my dad died I was an absolute wreck, respect to the king
I said to our lass before he spoke, if he came on pissed and apologised that he'd had a good drink today I wouldnt have complained
There was only one way he'd get the title he's always wanted tbh. Royals probably don't think, act or feel the way we do.
I thought the King delivered that message fantastically. Over the years his voice was like a running joke for impressionists. But that, THAT was fantastic.
I think most people loved and respected the Queen rather than the Royal family. Most will be apathetic at best towards Charles and a lot more critical of his siblings.
I honestly think it must have been done in a few takes and put together because grief to me is an uncontrollable emotion and at one point his lip wobbled and his eyes filled up, I don’t think it’s possible to stop it
I'm a bit of a cynic in general mate, it's not anti-Royal. I just know that these speeches aren't knocked out on the spur of the moment. They're planned well in advance unless it's a 'Diana' situation. I'd bet Charles has been working on his for a while tbh.
Possibly true. Interestingly though, a lot of his political campaigning has been on subjects that are very popular at the moment; the environment, organic farming, integration of different faith groups.
I'm afraid that is likely to be the case. The Queen was bound to have had her political views, but had the sense of duty and restraint to keep them private. The continuation of the institution of the monarchy depends entirely on this, and I doubt Charles will have either that restraint or self discipline .
