Not the time to say it, but not a bad idea, certainly introduce some scale, and take away the circus that surrounds it.

    Well said.

She held the Monarchy together despite the behaviour of her family.

Rest in peace, you've earned it.

I have actually found the coverage to be quite moving. I am no spring chicken but have known nothing but the Queen.

She has given incredible service to the country and hearing the tributes you realise that significant parts of the rest of the world held her in high regard.

RIP your Majesty, you governed our country for 70 years and with absolute aplomb. I believe that our nation Great Britain was a great nation before you came into power but by God you made it even GREATER :emoticon-0152-heart

If the politicians, in her time, had matched her integrity, this country would be a real Utopia.

Our Queen has been the back bone of not only Great Britain and most part of the World.

She has served her Country and her people with pride and dignity. I like most of you will greatly miss her.

This all feels a bit strangely numb. Longest reigning monarch has passed, she is all I've ever known to be on the throne. Hardly anyone alive has seen a state funeral of a monarch or the coronation of a new one. What actually happens next? I've read things about her body being on display for 23hrs a day for public viewing? Is this usually what happens when a head of state passes? I've genuinely not a clue.

Ignore everything that doesn't come from Nicholas Witchell, you'll be fine.

Just had a skim read of that on wiki. Planned since the 1960s and reviews 3 times a year. Looks like 'operation unicorn' as she died in Scotland. Unbelievable stuff. Cheers.

It feels surreal having read the Wikipedia on this earlier and seeing all actions being written in future tense ("A footman will pin a dark edged notice to the gates...") change to past tense ("A footman then pinned a dark edged notice to the gates...")

Minute’s silence Saturday. I hate the minute’s applause. Shows no respect. Have a minute silence, anyone breaks it they get escorted off the premises. She reigned supreme as they say. Class and dignity abound.

Can they be escorted off then kicked to ****?

Staggers me that people can't be quiet for 2 minutes to pay their respects

Fridays EFL games are postponed. Maybe discuss in the non Sunderland games thread to keep this one on track?

I find the number of people on here and on the various social media platforms wanting to pay tribute to the Queen heartwarming and reassuring. To me, the Queen embodied various admirable qualities (all of which have been described in the various tributes on television) which are sadly lacking in public life, and private life, nowadays. When the news broke, I genuinely felt fearful for the future as this constant in all our lives was now gone. Having seen all of the tributes, I now feel hopeful that there are more people than I realised who consider those qualities, embodied by the Queen, to be important.
