What a woman. Duty all her life, and was still working at the age of 96, only 48 hours before she died. I hope the quiet and peaceful manner of her passing brings some comfort to her family. She’s now with her husband, her sister, and her parents. God Save the King.
Me and mrs mop were sat eating the sweet chilli chicken I’d just cooked and heard the announcement of her passing. I am not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination but for a reason I cannot understand I got really emotional, almost to tears… rest in peace lady, your job is done…
History will, I think, look favourably on Queen Elizabeth II. For 70 years she contributed in a major way towards the stability of this Country. Stability is a blessing and certainly not a given. When it is eroded, as it was in the early years of the last century, times can get very dark indeed. In these turbulent times it is worth remembering this. RIP Your Majesty.
Sadness doesn't go half way to describe my feelings since the news...Rest In Peace Ma'am,long did you reign over us. God Bless The Queen,Long Live King Charles III.
I’m not a royalist, however, I am feeling a sense of loss. Queen Elizabeth II, an inspiration, a constant in our lives. Her spirit represents the great in Great Britain. You don’t need to be a monarchist to recognise the fact that this 96 year old was still working only two days ago and grieved alone because she followed the rules. We all thank you and appreciate your service. Rest in peace Ma’am
RIP Her Majesty the Queen. A British icon all her life and will continue to be long, long after we're all gone.
You served our country for 70 years as our Queen and your were a bloody good Queen . Such a sad day .
This sums up my thoughts tonight. I feel a real (surprising) sense of loss. She has always been there, providing that calm stability and continuity while those around………didn’t. I remember quite early childhood conversations with mum and dad about the queen. Dad was quite proud that he was the same age as the queen. He’d remind us every time she had a birthday that they were now the same age. I found that intriguing at the time especially when I learnt she had two birthdays. It’s quite weird that we are talking tonight about that same lady, and maybe the links with the past explain some of the unexpected emotions people are describing? RIP
Such sad day as the greatest monarch we have had the privilege to lead us has gone. Respect to Zurich football club for honouring her at the start of their second half match, that’s how I heard the news and was in tears trying to tell my partner the terrible news. RIP Ma’am.
Truly sad news .. 70 yrs of service, respected and loved the world over shows what a wonderful monarch and woman she was. Truly shook me when I heard the news, and I too feel a deep sense of loss, doubt there will ever be one who reigns for so long and was loved by so many again. RIP ma'am.. you WILL be missed.
In times when nothing stood But worsened, or grew strange, There was one constant good: She did not change. Philip Larkin for the Silver Jubilee, inscribed in Queens Square...
As staunch republican who hates the institution of the Royal Family it is hard to express my feelings. But it's very sad that people have lost a mum, grandma and great grandma. RIP.
