Good Morning. It's Thursday 8th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Did Leeds do enough this Summer

Figures revealed yesterday show that only Brighton (£102.51m) and Manchester City (£143.91m) have recouped more money from Sales than Leeds this Summer. The Whites almost broke even, due mainly to the departures of Kalvin Phillips and Rodrigo, with nine new players joining Jesse Marsch's squad.

Only Manchester City, Leicester and Brighton were able to record better financial figures, with all three turning a small profit. Bearing this in mind, did Leeds do enough to make themselves competitive this season, or could the lack of firepower up front come back to haunt them? Could Leeds have tied up the Gakpo deal earlier? Surely, it's difficult to play hard ball when your competition know you are desperate! Rumours of a cash flow crisis are absurd when you consider these figures, and allow for additional income from Sky!

Leeds handed £25,000 fine for Barnsley melee

Leeds United have been handed a £25,000 fine following an incident in last month's Carabao Cup tie against Barnsley last month. Cody Drameh clashed with Tykes (and ex LUFC) defender Liam Kitching midway through the second half, causing players from both sides to get involved. John Brooks, (referee) handed out yellow cards to Drameh, Kitching and Hjelde.

According to an FA Spokesman "Leeds United AFC and Barnsley FC have been fined £25,000 and £7,500 respectively for breaching FA Rule E20.1 during their EFL Cup fixture on Wednesday 24 August 2022,” "The clubs admitted that they failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 67th minute of the fixture. Both clubs admitted a non-standard charge and requested a paper hearing where the fines were imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission."

    Leeds squad valued at £237m

Leeds have the fifteenth most valuable squad in the top flight, according to new data from 'Transfermarkt.co.uk. After a busy Summer of transfers, the footballing website has put of value of £237.42m on Jesse Marsch's men, just below both Brentford (13th - £255.24m) and Crystal Palace (14th - £241.20m).

There are a few surprises. Villa have the wealthiest squad outside the top six at £468.54m, almost twice the value of Leeds, whilst Everton also made the top 10 with £366.98m. Southampton are just £4m below Leeds, followed by Nottingham Forest £223.38m, up from £40.77m this time last year. Brighton (£222.03m), Fulham (£202.50m) and Bournemouth (£150.66m) make up the bottom three.

Cheers Ell you just posted the net spend graph that I had recreated for this weekends debate <laugh> will go back to the drawing board….. but it does get my goat that big words from Radz when we got promoted about we can bring Cavani in etc, and then spending £100m on a handful of players. Staying up easily and him saying Firpo was all thats needed and we will spend another £100m fir season 3. Well Firpo wasnt enough and we only scraped home just last season. Yes we have spent £100m again however he and the club have not spent anything soin effect we have been robbed (stupid and incorrect term) of £100m he promised we would spend this season.

If we have the 15th most valuable squad in the league we should expect to finish at worst 15th this season. If we manage a higher position then Marsch will have done an excellent job, but it also follows………….

Morning all and what a great morning it is as well.

Think my forecast of us finishing 17th is slightly off the mark out as clearly we're good enough to finish 15th..ish.

    Happy days <laugh>

Morning all. Im afraid the morning thread simply highlights all that is wrong with the premier game. The vast majority of discussions fans have about pl football is about who they're signing and for how much. Its as if the Saturday game is almost a sideshow now. Ive several mates who years ago were Liverpool, scum, arsenal etc fans and couldn't be arsed anymore. They can't afford to travel over to games with their kids due to cost of travel and mainly tickets they can't get. Some Liverpool fanatics pay 180 pound off touts as only way of getting access. The whole thing is simply a cash cow and above figures show Radz is expert at milking a cow. Forget all that gratitude bull for getting us promoted. If were to survive in this mess of a league, he won't be the owner to do it. I used to ridicule scum fans a decade ago with the wages and transfer and agents fees they were paying and their three strips per season

I think we had such a poor transfer window last year that it was always going to be difficult to
    a) Attract the right players, and
    b) Make enough signings to turn the good ship LUFC 180 degree's.

And now Brighton seemingly turning their attention to Forests Cooper. Wonder how many of his new disciples will he bring with him in January

Good luck to Potter as he seems a decent type to be fair.

Hate the Chelsea scum of course but I wouldn't begrudge the fella some success as we're not exactly in direct competition with them anyway (apart from 2 games per season).

Perhaps more interesting is the disruption caused to Brighton so early in the season but I guess as things are going well down there it shouldn't be too difficult to keep things fairly steady this year but then who knows over the next 3 years or so. Remember they were bang average under Chris Hughton even though he did a decent job and kept them up.

I don’t disagree with Eire at all. Sadly it is what it is. You can question whether it’s better to support a side in league 2 where the feel/values are more old school and success is not going bust and getting a draw at forest green.

I think as a fan of a ‘bigger club’ you have to look past the players and the owners and just view it as a brotherhood. Leeds United is guys in the stadium, blokes in a bar, sad old scrotes like us on our keyboards. If we delve too much into ‘what’ we’re supporting it will likely just be a disappointment.

I’m shallow enough to park all that at kick off and scream for the bunch of international nomads wearing our shirt. I’m cheering our American manager as he gets a bit over excited on the touch lines and I’m nervously anticipating whether our teenage Italian protege will prove to be a bargain or a flop.

I’ll justify the selling of our best players for the good of the club.

Welcome to being a 21st century football fan. It’s sh*t but better than: /shopping/working/diy/kids parties… fill in your alternatives

    Good one milky.

For what it's worth those mercenary players do seem to give their all once the whistle blows and totally agree that if we get too profound about all things football then we may as well not bother.

Lose yourself in the moment and enjoy it for what it is <ok>

Just a little more from where Im coming from. GAA hurling is my second love as a sport, narrowly behind football. Difference is, Im ten minutes from our local grounds. Young lads start with their local club at 5 years ol like my grandson. They progress through the age ranks, coached by lads who give their time for free. At no point will they ever play for another club till they retire. Its great to watch young lads develop and follow them through their careers knowing they can be sold off if a success. Can't compare the two sports but the amateur status is very refreshing compared to what footballs become. Maybe Im just being old and cynical and it doesn't stop me getting completely in the match day experience at Leeds. Nothing compares to that

Goid Morning to all from a damp cold Bardseysyndrome
Well lets hope for a price crunch re our energy bills todayit would be most welcome
As for our spending why are we so sho5rt of cash when we spent next to zero and don,t come and say its the fair play rules!
Football is greedy sport hence Potter has not hesitated to move to Chelsea I think that he will spend wiselyt6houghTuchel was not a nice personand had blinkered vision but £15m payout will do nicelyand Chelsea will have to pay £20m for Potter where is the fair play league when it comes to them'
CDK has hardly had any game time with Milaninfact about 10 minutes more than KP so have we been lucky that they took him?

Yeh true enough Jammy... contrary to popular opinion, my belief is that most professional footballers genuinely do care and have an affinity for whatever team they join - they bond with team-mates. As long as they put in a shift when the whistle blows, that's all we can ask.

    Morning All

I wonder what the chart would look like if it was a three-year chart instead of just the one?

Although I feel we should have done better this year in the transfer market, I do think judging the spend over our three-season return is fairer

You've also spent more time in the clap clinic than Bamford has on the pitch.
