We’ve got to remember Tufan has done nothing for 6 months come here for about 3 weeks training and diet , played a bit then got injured - it’s like a guy coming back from a bad injury they don’t get up to speed for about 4-6 weeks so we must be patient . We seem to pass to players in fixed positions whereas the opposition seem to have more freedom to pass and move? Could be wrong ?
Pelkas looks like an attacking midfielder, seemed to be a signing we made for the sake of it. Well you cant turn down a player of Pelkas’ quality but other signings we’ve made make less sense now especially considering the gaps that are still present
If we became h avidly reliant on Tufan and he either doesn’t get with it long term or gets targeted we have Pelkas as cover maybe that’s the thinking ?
Been saying this all summer but apparently we just need creativity. Seri in particular looks like a player that needs someone sitting behind him in all phases of play. From what we’ve seen of all the players so far the only well balanced midfield we can field m contains Alfie Jones.
Surprised it's not been mentioned on here before to be fair... Gordon and McAtee weere warming up/stretching in the N/W corner when Sheff scored their first goal. They repeatedly celebrated/punched the air etc etc at their goal in front of the crowd in the North stand. So the home support in the area were understandably a little wound up. Mid way through the second half, Gordon was out warming up/stretching again and got irate over something, gobbing back at the home support in the North Stand, I didn't see what, was too busy watching the game... When the Sheff coaches pulled him back in, he cupped his ears and pulled them forward before pointing back towards the North stand, which I took as him saying he'd be subject to some racial remarks. 10 minutes later, a couple of fellas and a lass were ejected from the North Stand. Gordon and McAtee made themselves targets with how they celebrated the first goal, but there's no place for that kinda **** in football. It needs stamping out. What a clusterfuck.
No wonder we lost. https://ghanasoccernet.com/ghana-fo...jury-in-hull-citys-defeat-to-sheffield-united Shota really needs to think through his substitutes a bit more.
It's 100% a transition problem. The amount of times Jones/Coyle/Greveas/Elder were looking for an option with nothing but a 30 yard hoof being available. We had success if Oscar dropped deep and had a bit more success when seri was on as he was playing deeper. Due to injuries we haven't figured out a proper system. I would hope that their first full week of training gets a good system in place for the weeks ahead
Surely the system is made for Seri to be in there , although we were still trying to play that way when he was injured which didn't work
Simons could well become the bridge for that gap... In theory we wouldn't need anyone to do that if the whole team moved a bit more and made more effort to make themselves available when we've got the ball at the back. I felt sorry for Jones yesterday when there was nobody available and he took an age with the ball to avoid just hoofing it forwards. Tetteh has been outstanding for me so far this season. Drops deep and manages to play it forward into space on most occasions. Tufan looks very positive when he's played. Always looking to get behind or play others in behind. Oscar is spectacular at holding it up and finishing half chances. It's like the new players have gelled already... But only with each other. Tufan, Tetteh and Oscar have generated chances and goals between them despite poor possession and errors elsewhere in the team. It's the 'old guard' that seem to be struggling to play together for me and losing the ball with misplaced passes and poor touches. Allahyar was great at dragging us up the pitch and giving the rest more space as well. Past couple of games we've not had much of that. They pressure us and then we lose out due to no passing options. Frustrating. Seri is excellent but has a mistake in him when there's too much pressure. 4 at the back allows us that extra person further up the field. Another option to use positively... But then if we lose it we've even less cover. It'll come good with more quality coming back in, but IF we can't keep the ball then it'll never change. Sheffield Utd were well drilled and we aren't... That's the long and short of it. That result could have happened in any of our games this season so far and if it goes unsorted it'll happen again at some point. They capitalised on our errors and they didn't make mistakes themselves.
It's a huge problem, and it shouldn't take 14 games to start seeing a change in these behaviours. I say 14 games because we've had 8 league games, 5 friendlies and a cup match, all of which our passing and movement have been largely poor. It's not due to injuries that we don't pass and move. I don't believe you can play this type of football without a huge focus on the detail and instructions (No idea if that's happening and if it is, why its not taken on board?). The transition that Burnley have made in terms of how they play the game is huge, they suffered a bit at the beginning with players getting up to speed with a new style but it was clear what they where trying to do. I remember against us the commentator having fits over the goalkeeper taking risks a million miles from the Burnley way but he understood the intent and benefit. Im really struggling to see what we are trying to do. I have no expectation of a top 6 finish and I fully support and believe in the abilities of our whole squad to be able to play well and contribute in our team with good coaching and instruction.
At least the subs were at the right end. Those actually playing were goading pensioners and kids in the south stand, like the Coventry lad the other week
At least the player's gone to the trouble of pointing out it was just one idiot... “Disappointed what happened yesterday," Gordon wrote on Twitter. “One idiot who’s ignorant doesn’t reflect the whole of Hull City’s supporters, probably celebrating when a black player scores for his team. I know it will get dealt with properly. Thanks for all the messages,"
It's been an incredible window. We haven't even seen several of the new signings yet. The team is nowhere near gelled nor anywhere near 100% up to speed. Acun admitted that in the end he missed out on 1 key target. He strengthened an already solid defence by bringing in Figs, and then Christie (we haven't seen the real Christie yet). It's come as a bit of a surprise that the defence has looked worrying of late, nobody including i'd guess Shota and Acun, would have foreseen Figs and Jones dip in form. And noone would have expected or could legislate for the horrendous bad luck we've had with injuries. The window has been beyond what we could reasonably have expected, with a mix of real quality, experience and promising youth, with further tweaking likely to come in January. Yet many seem to be focussing on being critical and negative. Truly baffling. Give it a few weeks and we are going to be one heck of a force in this division. Give it to into January ( next window) and we will have a squad capable of getting promoted.
Of course shouting out racist comments is out of order but all this time, attention, sensationalism, media, air space etc for ONE idiot. Unfortunately it's now the crazy way of the world, to sensationalise and blow out of all proportion. Meanwhile I see hundreds of :grown men' giving ****er signs and v's to any oppo player everytime I watch a game on TV. Utterly pathetic behaviour, with nothing said or done. Clown world.
On occasions, Woods (in the first half) and Seri (in the second) were pointing to where they wanted the ball passed by the defenders but the defenders were too slow or too intimidated to make/attempt the pass. If we want to play that way all the defence (particularly Ingram) need to be MUCH quicker. The way we distribute is so slow, everyone is marked. I'm also not sure Jones & Figueredo are up to playing like that.
At times I thought Ingram was thinking it was taking an unfair advantage to distribute the ball quickly and was giving the opposition time to organise themselves before sending the ball forward. Too often we then ended up two or three passes back before sending it forward to someone so wide they had few options when closed down other than to then find someone to pass it sideways or backwards with us ending up losing momentum.
