Am I the only one that thought we looked better playing from the back when McLoughlin came on? The combo of Jones and Figs gave me nightmares at points
Disappointed that the team didn’t reach the standard they have in the home games up to now this season. I’m not panicking and writing people off like those around me in East and also on here. It’s a new squad, there’s injuries all over the shop, transfer window has just closed. It does seem like we have a new curse of Upper West being open though, and the crowd went quiet and flat at times. Sunday afternoon impact?
That was coupled with Seri coming on, which I think was the main reason. Sean is definitely better than Fig with the ball but was still prone to a couple of howlers last season. Add to that he's also got the pace of a snail, I don't think he's the answer either.
It’s not just today though is it? We’re shipping goals in every game, even when we win ffs. We can’t rely on Oscar to out score the opposition every time and, as has been stated earlier, we’ve been under the cosh in every game without ever doing the same to the opposition.
Feel for Kyron Gordon after the abuse directed at him by a couple in the North stand. Whilst it by no means makes it excusable both him and, I think, McAtee were both goading the home support after Sheffield's first goal, so they both became targets for abuse.
Sinik and Traore (and Seri?) were injured in training and Tufan at West Brom so your theory doesn’t stand up.
We have to remember we are a team in massive transition, hamstrung (no pun intended) by a ridiculous amount of injuries. It is an exciting time, and e need to be patient. We were playing against the team top of the league. Very strong and streetwise I don’t understand the Coyle haters on here, I thought he was outstanding first half. He’s one of our own ffs!
He was MOM for me. People have to have their boo boys, Coyle for some reason seems to have inherited the role. He’s also having to play a role that doesn’t really suit him, and making a great crack of it.
The thing that got me today, was the lack of passing options, especially in midfield, they only had 3 pushing our back 5/6 into giving it back to Ingram, then he kicks it out, TBF it wasn’t really a hoof, it was usually a pass to someone behind their initial 2/3, but with still the majority of theirs in the way, which usually resulted in a long ball out to the right with Coyle on the touch line, I didn’t notice it going the same to the left. At one point Greaves picked up the ball, ran with it, but no one near him to lay it off to, he ended up just putting the ball into the box, obviously no one expected that so went straight to the keeper, shortly after, Oscar was almost on the halfway line, trying to get the ball, to pass through for Tufan. Longman was anonymous for most of the time, a couple of moments, but nothing to get excited about, hopefully someone can replace Tetteh better in the next game. Shota really needs to get a grip on it though, with all these signings it’s difficult to get a read on who’s going to replace who, if they get injured, or subbed, the replacement doesn’t seem to do the same job. Maybe they’re just not as good?
Let's be real, we're a work in progress, they are at their peak, and were not really all that impressive.
Without Berge they'd be bang average. Shame he didn't move on in the window. Gone in January to the prem or abroad for big bucks.
He’s of our own and part of a fairly legendary local sporting family. We hear stories of him going over and above to ensure overseas players are settling in. On the field, he works his bollocks off. Rarely would score less than 7 out of 10. Most clubs would be celebrating such a player. Almost like it’s his fault Emmanuel is not around? Don’t get it.
Without the ball I thought they were good, we had no options. It was like they had 15 men on the pitch
15 big men too! Was saying earlier I remember Bournemouth doing a similar job on us last year. They were just big men! I watched them vs Forest on MOTD last night and were still big and overpowered Forest eventually.
They honestly were, you could see the city players getting annoyed because they had no one to pass to. At one point I saw Alfie jones looking for honeyman
They were so well drilled, lightening quick in transition from in possession to without possession, a perfect game for any young player or manager/coach to watch and learn from. The big positive from the game is even they were so good in that respect, we still broke them down a couple if times and created clear cut chances. We just need to take those chances against teams like sheff utd as you won't get many
