I don’t think it’s a relegation battle. We have too many quality players and our next run of games is much easier and therefore should pick up many more points. Time will tell though, of course!
Not many positives to take from that game. We were out-thought and out-fought. Second best in every position on the field. Glimpses of quality from Oscar, Tufan, Seri and Pelkas but not a lot else. Tetteh's injury looking potentially long term leaves us numerically short upfront. Shota's got a job on his hands to produce a starting XI that plays to our strength. The 3 teenage loanees are a gamble. Obviously he doesn't trust them yet and they have no experience to speak of at all. If one of them becomes a first team starter before Christmas it'll be a bonus. Lots and lots to ponder and reflect on over the next few weeks for our management team.
Figueiredo and Jones were ****ing woeful, again. This playing out from the back does not ****ing work with our back three.
Can't miss chances like the 2 we missed in the first half against a team like that, never mind letting a tame first in. Figuerido was v poor today, time for McLaughlin to get a run in defence.
Well we need to strengthen the back, Ingram at fault for the first today, but I thought Coyle, Jones, Fig were awful and add longman to that as well. Oscar and Tufan should have both scored but 2nd half we created nothing.
Strange game, they will be up there come the end of season, they were better first half, more physical in midfield. Big mistake from our keeper yet we have two fantastic chances. Second half thought the crowd got behind city and then they go and score a deflected shot and it’s game over. Another couple of injuries which as disrupted us all season. Think once we get players back and he gets his best side out we will win more than we lose. If we finish top half and add two or three more next season to make a big difference that would do for me. However still a long way to go this season yet, patience needed I’m afraid but hopefully we will get better as the season moves on. I honestly don’t think none of us and even the manager know the best team to put out yet because we have never had all the players available. Was they better than us today -yes but not miles better. Today shows the improvement needed to be a top six side.
Not all bad. I got a free pint of cider when they scored their first. Lad said I was close to collecting a 50p piece too.
The lads from Chelsea have to been offered game time... and to be honest I'd throw them in next week... if you read what has been written about them, its everything we are short of...
I think it says a lot Johnbo that you say they'll be up there this season, because lets be honest they were not very good at all... we gifted them the game...
3 v slow players at the back , two underweight for the job - for some reason even Greaves looks slow in thought and awareness? Two small in midfield and we’ve just added a third but he’s technically probably very good . None have a tackle in them because they didn’t get there , we need height strength and arguably better ball control there . Why don’t our players give and go move and show like QPR, Sheff U and Coventry Seri is way better but unfit along with most of the rest .
Sheffield obviously better than City but we could have done a lot more to help ourselves. Playing out from the back all of the time just isn't working. As soon as the opposition press we grind to an indecisive halt and put ourselves under more pressure. The Ingram versus Baxter argument will continue and where I think Baxter comes out on top is his more confident relationship with the defenders - Ingram has played well but Baxter would be my choice.
Jeez! We'll be top 6 this season. Just need a bit of patience. We've brought in some real quality and some real potential. And I'm certain there will be further strengthening (striker and defender) in January.
