well we finally get close to a derby (although some would say since the mags sold out this IS our derby now), watched them against watford and to be honest i did not see a lot to worry us from the boro lot, kept a bit of an eye on them if honest due to the roadrunner being there but he really has not managed to better his pre-injuries form, shame for the lad as i honestly thought he would be a much sought after player, mcnair is mcnair with a couple of good touches or runs then quiet for the rest of the game although he just might lift his game for this one, thought their goal against watford was both against the run of play and lucky as the keeper really should have had it.

once-a-feckin-gain Sly move us and we play on a monday in front of the cameras, apart from a brief spell during rieds days we rarely seem to have good games when moved for the cameras...hoping for all that to be 'put to bed' this season as our camera games improve.

we have been creating more chances than most in this league and we started putting them away last week so again, hoping that continues...doubt TM will want to tinker too much, think his main influence will be on the training pitch with the young lads plus a couple of subtle changes here and there when needed, think he said something along the lines of 'why change things when they are working ok'.

 

We played him in defence but he always insisted that he wanted to play midfield - I remember him scoring at QPR during the Moyes era, I liked him but he didn't fancy dropping down to League One.

 

Yeah he was a good player. Tweedledum and tweedledee wanted to make him the best paid player in league 1to keep him but he wanted to play higher.

Watmore and his pace will cause a few problems. Hopefully our defence can set up for it

 

As with Bristol City the pressure will all be on Boro which will help us in my opinion, we'll just get on with the game ...

Why are we 4/1 that seems mad!?

 

1-2 we conced a consolation goal with 2 minutes to go for a nervy finish

I’ve never minded Boro so never feels like a derby to me like but a bit extra maybe with Mowbray here. All I want is the three points. Wilders no mug so I can see there being 1 goal in it. Thankfully we have goals in us.

In 1801, Middlesbrough was a small farm with a population of just 25;
(Which explains why everyone from there looks alike with hooves)
however, during the latter half of the 19th century, it experienced rapid growth.
Iron dominated the Tees area since 1841 when Henry Bolckow in partnership with John Vaughan, founded the Vulcan iron foundry and rolling mill. Vaughan introduced the new "Bell Hopper" system of closed blast furnaces developed at the Ebbw Vale works. The new system and nearby abundant supply of Ironstone in the Eston Hills in 1850, made the works a success with the area becoming known as the "Iron-smelting centre of the world" and Bolckow, Vaughan & Co., Ltd the largest company in existence at the time.[14]

By 1851 Middlesbrough's population had grown from 40 people in 1829 to 7,600.[10] Pig iron production rose tenfold between 1851 and 1856 and by the mid-1870s Middlesbrough was producing one third of the entire nations Pig Iron output. It was during this time Middlesbrough earned the nickname "Ironopolis".

Middlesbrough was the first major British town and industrial target to be bombed during the Second World War. The steel making capacity and railways for carrying steel products were obvious targets. The Luftwaffe first bombed the town on 25 May 1940, when a lone bomber dropped 13 bombs between South Bank Road and the South Steel plant.[20] More bombing occurred throughout the course of the war, with the railway station put out of action for two weeks in 1942.[21]

By the end of the war over 200 buildings had been damaged or destroyed within the Middlesbrough area. Areas of early and mid-Victorian housing were demolished and much of central Middlesbrough was redeveloped. Heavy industry was relocated to areas of land better suited to the needs of modern technology. Middlesbrough itself began to take on a completely different look.

In 2010, filmmaker John Walsh made the satirical documentary ToryBoy The Movie about the 2010 general election in the Middlesbrough constituency and sitting MP Stuart Bell's alleged laziness as an MP.[101][102][103]

In March 2013, Middlesbrough was used as a stand in for Newcastle 1969 in BBC's Inspector George Gently starring Martin Shaw and Lee Ingleby; the footage appeared in the episode "Gently Between The Lines" (episode 1 of series 6).

No, he never **** on us. We signed him in the premier league. The guy had every right to look for a move when we dropped into the third division.

 

I was being a bit harsh with the **** on us comment I think it was more the Donald etc... making a big deal of "wanting to keep him" at the time. When they were probably glad to cash in.

 

4/1 seems ridiculous odds with Boro 3/4. I'd say personally all 3 results are equally likely so my well have a flutter on us.
