Yeah, if we can develop the likes of Zak Johnson and retain the likes of young Rigg and one or two others it would be brilliant.
Keep hearing we will always need to sell to be sustainable and obviously if a big offer and/or the player wants to leave it will happen, but I think the fees, deals and type of young hungry player we are going for could well see this team stay together as long as we are making progress. I also think having such a young chairman works well with the young players it was obvious by Mitchu's interview that it was KLD who had been in contact and convinced him to sign, OAU ! .
Agreed. I also think... in fact I KNOW that the club will accept a bid of £15m for Ross Stewart if it comes at the right time. The whole point of this model is to identify cheap young talent then sell them on a few years later for a massive profit.
Definitely, if the offer is right for club and player it'll happen but don't think we will be actively looking to sell.
I don't think this team will be together for a long time at all. The only way to keep 99% of this team together would be to win promotion this season, which is too soon. This will be our last season with Stewart and Cirkin. If we're lucky, we keep Clarke for an extra year. They'll be sold at huge profits and we'll reinvest a portion of that in the first team. It's important that when it happens, our fans don't cry about the lack of ambition.
Think this is why we have bought so many youngsters. They will have an off day. If so, we replace them with another. We do have a lot of players, but the standard is so much higher than before.
He will that will a big test of our new model. First find the young players and develop them Then the biggie sell them on and re invest ata higher level. Brentford bought Ollie Watkins he was excellent in the championship they sold him on but immediately invested in Ivan Toney. Re investment needs to keep the club progressing No good just sitting on any profits
Find it hard to believe we haven't had at least a speculative approach to see if he's available at the right price. Let's hope we don't know that for sure because we are running a professional operation these days. I KNOW sweet FA by the way
They sold Watkins for £30m and bought Toney for £5m rising to £10m. They bought Watkins from League 2 for £6m and he only scored 10 goals in each of his first 2 seasons. The £6m was from the sales of Andre Gray (16 goals in his last season) for £11m and Scott Hogan (21 goals in 33 games) for £9.5m. They didn't always re-invest everything into the first team and they didn't always progress season upon season. I hope our fans trust the process. I can see some being up in arms if for example, we sell Stewart for £15m next summer and replace him for £6m with some young lad out of league one or two, which is essentially what Brentford did multiple times.
