Great that isnt it. Didnt think we had an average player on the park. Controlled so much of the game. No sign of any hangovers from last week. Plus I thought we showed real attacking intent at 1-0 and 2-0 - been a while since we did that. MoM not difficult - the lad was unplayable.
first off, rotherham are a newly promoted team who managed to remain unbeaten until tonight which suggests a very resolute side with good defensive qualities, they have also been known as a 'footballing side' in recent years. they probably had the best couple of first half chances but apart from that we controlled the game perfectly, we pressed without going gung-ho and i know i said it was too soon to see any real changes in the side but we really seemed to have much better defensive cover tonight, good to see. MotM can only be clarke although good performances across the park, onien was solid at the back and batth worked well with him, batth coming close to getting himself a goal as well although simms really needs to learn to control and run with a ball, he got in some good positions but was let down by his close control...not slagging the lad as he has time on his hands to correct such things. not a terrible performance from the officials but again we see some strange calls for one side then not for the other. nice start to the TM era and beating a previously unbeaten side quite easily in the end will give the lads a lot of confidence...think the lads paced the game out much better as well.
Sitting on the coach on the way home. Brilliant performance from the whole team. Special mention to 09 and Clarke. I can happily admit I was wrong about Clarke
Last minute winner at anfield if carlsberg did Wednesdays Stoke would not have drawn but I’ll take it
There's a great togetherness about this team and the competition for places, particularly for the front 6 is gonna be immense. Hope we can get that CB from Blackburn and Vito through the door tomorrow, then it will have been a great window. I'm not keen on the bloke, because he comes across as a right smug twat, but fair do's to Speakman and Harvey for their recruitment. This club is unrecognisable from a year ago.
Obviously Norwich won, but we created a load of chances, bit like tonight before the goals came. I predict that not many teams will come up here and beat us at home. not saying we'll not loose at home again this season, however, over the years we became easy pickings, I feel that has gone now. It's not even like we're watching a newly promoted club that's hovering around 18th after 7 games that's "lucky to be here". Like what I see at the minute
It was the best I've seen O'Nien tonight - I know he is a versatile player but I hope we just get him to force on being a CB, by far his best position
Makes me think another CB is not needed. Ballard will be back. I suppose if we get one fine, but not a priority for me.
For me the main thing he's doing now is proving that he's a championship standard player, rather than confirming that he has to play in defence but I take your point.
Cirkin was again very very good, so much energy from him as well. Mind you I can't fault any of them. Interesting to see TM was at the edge of the technical area all game and the few times i looked over was encouraging or praising people
Just think he gets lost in midfield a bit but is good at CB especially in a back 3 - thought he was class tonight, positionally so good and so aggressive. He is such a great lad that I want him to do well for us at this level.
