Just had a message from my Citeh mate. Reckons we are getting two Citeh boys. Edozie and Larios. Forward and full back. Is there a Citeh B team shirt on sale at St. Mary’s?
Is Joe Shields officially the Southampton pied piper. He seems to have a lot of Citeh youngsters following him. Anyone know if he plays Lord of the Dance?
I’m guessing Redmond to Turkey might be all lined up and ready to go as soon as we get confirmation of a replacement in the form of players such as Edozie, Gakpo or both.
In regards to Romeu and Stephens leaving ... I know they're not the best players, but my god, they've been model pros throughout their time with us. They've never moaned, never bitched, and just got on with it whilst giving their all for the badge. It's all we ask for as saints fans.
Yeah, Stephens in particular has had a lot of undue criticism. Okay, maybe not quite up to the required standard, but he has never let anyone down imo. I wish him all the best (if he’s going to Bournemouth he’ll need it).
The Telegraph, written by Jeremy Wilson: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...eal-cody-gakpo-three-signings-transfer-window Southampton were trying to complete four new signings on Wednesday night, including a potential club record deal for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo. Deals for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Manchester City duo Samuel Edozie and Juan Larios were close to being announced but the club also remained hopeful on Wednesday night of beating Leeds United to the signing of Gakpo. They have already had bids rejected for Gakpo, most recently of £21.4 million, but were increasingly hopeful of reaching agreement with PSV as the hours ticked down on the closure of the Dutch transfer window. Southampton’s focus this summer has been younger talent who want the platform of regular Premier League opportunity and City duo Edozie and Larios, who would arrive with the same buy-back options Chelsea have for Tino Livramento, also very much fit that profile. Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was also signed this summer after graduating through City’s academy and Joe Shields, the club’s new head of recruitment, previously worked for the champions. Maitland-Niles would initially arrive on loan with an option to buy. A quartet of new signings would take the number of summer arrivals into double figures, with Bazunu, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romeo Lavia, Joe Aribo, Sekou Mara, Gavin Bazunu and Mateusz Lis all also joining Ralph Hasenhüttl’s squad. Gakpo, a Holland international, has scored 25 goals in 55 games for PSV over the last two seasons and, just as they did with players like Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mané, Southampton believe that they can provide the ideal launch pad for a move to one of Europe’s leading clubs. “The question naturally arose as to whether it would be feasible to get a player like Gakpo, but we think it is good for a player from the Eredivisie to make an intermediate step at a club like Southampton,” said Piet Buter, a Southampton scout. Buter told the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Gakpo “has a lot of qualities to succeed in England” but added that “the step to the real top is big and therefore an intermediate step is ideal”.
