Good Morning. It's Wednesday 31st August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Ugly Everton nick a draw The spoils were shared at Elland Road last night, as Leeds came from behind to claim a well deserved draw against lowly Everton. Although Leeds were dominant for large periods of the game, the Toffee's were dangerous on the break; their pace was a constant cause for concern, and for good reason. The visitors frustrated the hosts during the early exchanges. Marsch's men were keen to put Saturday's blip behind them, but continuous time-wasting, thus slowing the game down, had its desired effect on the Whites. Everton took the lead against the run of play after Iwobi picked out Anthony Gordon, who was advancing into the Leeds Utd penalty area. He took a touch, before dispatching the ball through the legs of Meslier. Blame will be aimed in Llorente's director, though to be fair, Kristensen could have done a lot better. Five minutes later, Rodrigo missed a guilt edged opportunity to put Leeds level. Harrison whipped a cross into the box, which evaded everyone, including the Spaniard. The faintest of touches could have put Leeds level. Rodrigo's night came to an end on the half hour mark following a shoulder injury he sustained during a challenge with Pickford five minutes beforehand. Leeds started the second half brightly. Aaronson and Harrison forced good saves from Pickford, but the England shot stopper was unable to keep Sinisterra out. His long range shot from 30 yards wrong-footed Pickford, who could only watch as Elland Road erupted. There's little love lost between the two sides, especially with fat Frank at the helm for the visitors. Whilst both teams flirted with a red card, they were content to share three bookings apiece. Leeds continued to dominate the second half, but couldn't break down a stubborn Everton side, content with playing ugly football, to ensure they left Elland Road with a point. please log in to view this image Marsch keen on Hwang reunion Speaking at his post match press conference, Leeds Manager Jesse Marsch admitted that the Elland Road board 'are trying everything they can' to finalise last minute deals. Injuries to key players have left the Whites short up front, and frail at left back. Pascal Struijk has been more than an adequate replacement for Firpo, so they can be excused for not bringing another defender to the club, but what about goals? Rodrigo started the season in fine form, netting four times in his opening three games, but as we know, his form is inconsistent. On top of this, he has now picked up a shoulder injuring, and is due for a spell on the sidelines. Leeds are desperate for a striker, and according to Marsch, he's keen to reunite with Hwang Hee-Chan, a player he managed at both RB Saltsburg and LB Leipzig. “We’ve been active and we’re trying everything we can and we’ll see how it plays out here over the next 24 hours or so. “I know Hee-chan very well. I like Hee-chan, he knows our football. He’s on our list, I can tell you that.” please log in to view this image Bogusz rejoins Ibiza Terms have agreed for Mateusz Bogusz to return on loan to UD Ibiza. The Poland Under-21 international enjoyed a successful spell in Spain last season, but a serious knee saw the 20yo return to Thorp Arch for treatment in the New Year. He has one year left on his contract, and it is not known whether it will be renewed before flying out to the party capital. please log in to view this image
Morning all. A good result last night in the end, not the one wed all hoped for. VAR worked in our favour this time. As Ive been saying, every point we gain through the season will be a scrap. Incredibly difficult to pick up points and looking at the fixture list trying to pick out "the easier fixtures" is a waste of time. Must admit I have issues with some of Kinnears program notes, but Im not surprised. He believes our three strikers are better than a lot of teams around our standard. Cloud cuckoo land. Im not convinced about Joffy and Bamford best days are behind him. Still repeating the same mantra that players who come in must be better than what we have. The five year plan was to be competing for a European place after that. Were in year three and objective remains to avoid relegation which I think we easily will. But what's the blueprint to turn us into a top eight side in next two seasons or will Radz walk away at that point with his pockets stuffed
Expecting Alfie McCalmont to be gone for good today too which will make 26 players out of the door. 10 on loan but only a couple coming back (Cresswell and Bate) We could also see Sean McGurk going out on loan as lots if enquiries about him, plus Max Dean our other 18yo striker who is competing with Mateo Joseph Fernandez and Sonny Perkins for starts
Morning all A point is a point. Yes I wanted to win but I'll take the draw. Does anybody how long Rodrigo is out for cos it looks like Pickford dislocated his shoulder to that push. Reading between line I think Hwang is nailed on to sign by the end of tomorrow night. Reading his answer on twitter he worded in to the point it's not what he said rather than what he said. With Boguez going to Ibiza and Rodders out I'd be more comfy if we signed another MF.
The stupidity of Kinnears notes and the idiocy of the clubs heirechy actually gambling yet again. Rodrigo injured, Bamford not fully fit again leaving only Joffy is stupidity beyond belief. So we will now enter Bargain Basement again and rush through a deal maybe for Hwanker. Surprise me Radz go get Gakpo
Morning all. Seemed a fair result last night as even though we dominated possession it was fairly even on big chances created. Hopefully we can get at least one signing through the door before the window closes tomorrow to give the rest of the squad a little boost. Oh and it better be a stiker as we currently don't have a fully fit one at the club.
Good Morning from a cool Bardsey to Matt Doc WJ Rik Bucks Shako etc The Wolves manager said he would be wheeling this window but anything over £15m is too much What has happened to Willie Everything for a reason so Rodrigo injury may make them get their fingure out
Yeh, we had more half chances but there's were maybe clearer. The two big ones were Joffy's and their scramble for the corner. If anyone deserved the W we did, but on another day VAR isn't our friend and we might have lost. Can't really argue with a draw
Ouch. Earliest he's back in mid October. I think we might need more than a striker through the door tomorrow. Hopefully this gets the board to stick their fingers outs and move for somebody.
Really frustrating match to watch. I don't think I've seen any team waste so much time from so early on, maybe Forest back in the championship. About time refs cracked down on it. A yellow card for Pickford early on and a warning that if he keeps doing it he's off and that would have put a stop to it. Pointing to your watch does **** all, Pickford just carried on taking a minute for every kick. Have to say though, Everton had a game plan and it worked and they'll probably stay up but I'd hate to be an Everton fan having to watch that every week.
And it's not just the games he'll miss but the lost momentum. He's been on fire so far, will he be able to continue that straight away when he's back ?
Saw something earlier about the 49ers having funds to invest but have an agreement that they can only match what Radz puts in himself. Because Radz hasn't had to put anything in yet due to player sales the 49ers are unable to give any funds. Dunno how true all that is.
The board must be really pissed this morning that Rodrigo didn't wait till weekend to get injured. They could have happily sat back today and counted the cash without any backlash from fans
The match commentators on the telly picked up on it to. Said they were surprised that the ref let them waste that much time and get away with it. They even said it was frustrating to see and they are not even Leeds fans.
Gordon either threw or kicked the ball away three times in the first 10 minutes and was eventually warned by the ref to stop wasting time. This was obviously a fat Frank tactic, he knew Leeds would be rushing at them from the start and his players did everything they could to stop the flow of the game. I don't know any other sport where these tactics would be tolerated.
Afternoon all Everton play that way, frustrating or not they grabbed a point and denied us two, we have to learn to break these kind of teams down and accept it’s how some play. Joffy is not ready for the PL and having no backup is ruining his career. He should have been out on loan all last season, he needs to go out this season but no depth is meaning his career is being suffocated I still believe we’ll bring one maybe two players in, maybe that’s because I’m getting older and more senile
Makes sense from a financial and business perspective. Why would they invest millions more than Radz when he’ll get more than them out of it? Reaps rewards from putting no money in so I don’t blame them. If we buy today and don’t sell then he’ll be around for the long run, if we do nothing he’s just looking at increasing the investment or doesn’t have the money to invest I’d say.
Phil Hay has made an interesting claim. He says that if Arronson doesn't play well, Leeds don't play well!!!
