He's clearly fallen out with someone high up in the club.

It wouldn't have made sense to sack him last season when they were in a promotion push, or in the summer when hes just got them up. Mangling by Liverpool the perfect excuse though.

    Bottomless pit?

They've given him £20m to spend. I get being careful and sustainable, but basically that's absolutely nothing.

Like I said, I'm not saying go all in or bust, but £20m quid on 2 players? That's nothing. That's enough to buy you two average PL players at best.

If the board have basically said "sustainable" = no more cash and we'll just get relegated then Parker is basically just hoping he can keep a **** side up and over achieve.

Why would anyone want that job besides simply collecting his wages and ****ing off.

If £20 Million is all they have then it's all they have. Even a club with an apparently bottomless pit (us) has limits on how much it will spend. For some clubs that will be £200 Million, for others it is £20 MIllion. Some clubs start a window with a negative amount available and need to sell (like Leicester). The amounts involved are all relative. If the pit isn't bottomless then when you reach the bottom that's it.

I will add that if the owners do have money which they could safely invest then it seems a stupid move. Everything coming out of the club suggests they don't have anymore money though.

Then they should put the club for sale as they cannot take the club forward, and will continuously disappoint the fans.

I highly doubt £20m is all they have, it could very easily be that they simply don't want to spend more and are just using the "sustainable growth" bullshit as an excuse.

No manager out there right now would want the bournemouth job, who would? You're going to manage the ****test squad in the league and you're getting no financial support at all.

The reality is scott parker just said what the facts were and they'll probably not get a better manager than parker in the current conditions.

So basically if they weren't certain of being relegated before, they will be now.

Eddie Howe took a league one side no one gave a **** about called Bournemouth AFC and turned them into a Premier League side. They are now desperately living off that achievement.

Waste of time them even being in the Prem.

I think that's the crux of it. Promotion is the pinnacle of their potential at the moment.

Eddie kept them up with very limited money for 5 years. Only when they had an injury crisis at the back and no defenders did they fall out the league.

Scotty Parker as much as I love him went about it the wrong way - completely the wrong way.

I get he's fed up having been pumped for 16 goals in 3 games but vs Arsenal, City and Liverpool that's kind of a given for a team new in the league. Just take it on the chin and see where you go, the benefit for them is they aren't in the relegation zone despite playing probably to the top 3 teams in their opening 4 games - they should be happy with that, not blaming the board and saying the players aren't good enough!

Bit naive from Parker tbh, should have just got his head down and kept quiet for me.

Coming up and not spending much hoping that a miracle might happen and using the funds gained and parachute payments to fund an immediate return is a valid operating method. Norwich have been doing it successfully, Fulham have done it once or twice and West Brom did until they made the mistake of appointing Bruce.

Its probably safer for the club’s future than the Forest model and rewards the players that gained the promotion. Not much fun for the fans and manager but he presumably knew it was likely if he knew the owners business model for the club.

I was hoping that Bournemouth made more of a fist of it - I lived down there for three years in the 80's and have a soft spot for them.

But the ambition of their owner equals that of our ex owner - Collect the TV cash and finish 17th.
Despite their years in the Premier League with EH they didn't get their stadium upgraded and try to grow.
Now they've got back and have invested next to nothing.

There will be takers for the job - the Sean Dyche's will want it. At least Parker will get a pay off.

    Statement from Borunemouth:
Maxim Demin said: “I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us. Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history. However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”

Maybe he should have more faith in his ability to improve players and motivate the squad to stay up?

No one gave Brentford a chance last year, finished mid table. Sheff United few years ago came top half. Defeatist attitude if he thinks that he has no chance and not the kind of manager you’d want in charge of a group of players that need motivating.

    Basically this.

He’s been shafted there is no doubt about it. But if this is based on his form (Liverpool score aside) then it’s extremely harsh for me.

Sounds like Parker wanted money like he had at Fulham to re-vamp and improve the squad whereas the board want to keep the money back and build for the future. If they told him this after promotion he can't have any complaints and I'm sure they'd have got one or two deals and loans in by Thursday as well. Worst possible time to sack the manager from the clubs point of view as they are pretty much stuck with the squad they've got now until January.

Parker has probably put himself in a difficult position making claims that investment is needed. The board have not backed him and then he’s said stuff against them.

Which you can’t do. But he is probably looking at Forrest and thinking my own career as a manager is going to take a battering here if I don’t get funding.

Sorry for him but it is what it is.

Agreed - no forethought though as my concern for him now is who is going to touch him now he's been sacked for slating the board. No EPL team will want him as he has one season up here and a relegation at the end and now championship clubs will be looking thinking if they get promoted he's going to throw his toys out the pram if he doesn't get what he wants.
