I mean you only need to look at the reactions of Leeds fans to Carney’s perfectly reasonable comments. Truly pathetic I’m also disappointed they didn’t drop as they really deserved to. But so did Everton, Burnley, Watford and Norwich and there were only so many spaces
I found that Karen Carney situation an interesting episode. As you say, it was the Leeds Utd fans reaction that was a vile, sexist attack but personally I can't place much blame at the club's door for that. I think their very mild response was seen as an attack on women in football and they were unfairly (in my view) called out for provoking their animal fans.
Scott Parker sacked. Not really sure what they wanted from him other than 3 points from Villa, Man C, Arsenal & Liverpool.
That's ridiculously harsh. Glad we have a board that can see the bigger picture and not panic after a really bad defeat.
At least they have plenty of time to get a new manager in and strengthen the squad to his liking before the end of the window
The absence of comments from anyone other than the owner in the statement, and the fact he talks about respecting each other and the club and needing to be sustainable suggests that Parker’s post-match comments at the weekend did not land well, more than anything.
Yeah that statement reads very much “chat ****, get banged”. Who comes in for him I wonder? AllarDyche? They have Russian ownership so I’m sure there’s deep trouble there no matter who they appoint. A tough gig.
It feels short sighted, however it sounds like it was because he fell out with the ownership rather than due to results.
Post that on the Ralph in or out thread. There are people on there that would probably prefer Parker to Ralph FFS.
Good luck to Bournemouth getting a manager in that will get more out of that squad. Parker is right - they’re a championship side punching above their weight and they haven’t brought in enough players. Definitely feel for him.
I only know a couple of Bournemouth fans and they weren’t enamoured with Parker last season despite getting them promoted. Feeling seemed to be they went up despite him rather than because of him. Still feels harsh given they obviously are just taking the PL money for the year and keeping it rather than spending it on players/wages.
Feels harsh given the fixture list they were given…. But as suggested maybe it was more about the post match than the results Can’t imagine there’s many managers queuing up for the job given a) their current situation and b) how they’ve seen the last couple of managers treated
