I think my opinions on Ascot have been well publicised on here, I am not a massive fan, and then you add in the option of going to the home of NH racing to see a top card with two Grade 3 Chases and a listed hurdle. I think the card will be better than the Amlin card at Ascot and the feel of the meeting will be so much better.

I am going on the Sunday, perhaps they will run Cue Card in the opener.

Cheltenham every time. The home of jump racing. It doesn't get any better.

Woolcombe, probably about 15 or so a year, but I have had a season ticket at Bath in the past. Cheltenham is always one course that I put in the calendar for a visit, and I am off on the Friday of the International to see the Cross Country for the first time.

Other than Chelts, Glorious Goodwood and the Imperial Cup at Sandown are regular meetings for me. Must get to Ascot again, but others take precedence

Nass....The jumps meetings at Ascot, don't attract the same personel as the flat ones. I assume your dislike of Ascot is down to busy events like the Royal Meeting. The jumps meetings aren't busy, and the crowd are proper racing fans.

WF.....I'm not sure what the whole card at Ascot is like, even though I'm supposed to be going. I know there's a G2 Chase, you know the one Master Minded won last year. I'd imagine there will be some decent horse's in that. Both meetings are pretty good, though if it was me I'd choose Ascot, as live round the corner from the course, saves me doing any travelling

WF - It would have to be Cheltenham for me, the card is top class right teh way through and there will be festival form/clues everywhere.
I've done the Ascot meeting a few times, it has whatever it;'s called now 2m 3f chase and a decent novice chase on the car but there's nowhere near as much strength in depth compared to the Paddy Power card.
    Enjoy !

In recent seasons Newbury have tried really hard to transform their Hennessy meeting (or 'Winter Festival' as they now market it) into a really competitive, entertaining and interesting 3 days. You will find nice races on each day with the big yards introducing some really promising types. The meeting culminates, of course, with the Hennessy itself on Saturday 26th. Give one of these days a chance and support a burgeoning fixture in the process.

Nass, if you are going on the Sunday of the 'Open' fixture put all your winnings from the previous races (I'm sure this sum will be ample) on Montbazon in the 'lucky last'. It will be his final bumper start before going hurdling.

Shergs, the big NH issue I have is that the course is too far away from the stand so it is devoid of the intensity which Chelts has. Its too sterile.

There are times when the horses literally cannot be seen they're so far away....

Yep Newbury is as bad in that regard, although I do like the course because of its parade ring layout (bar the nasty accident). I still think of Newbury as a flat racing track.

Sandown is a much better example of how it should be done for the NH game.

Agree Grizzly, Newbury is the same. That's the problem with these multi purpose course's, and it always seems to be the jumps course that plays 2nd fiddle to the flat course:biggrin:

You don't get these problems at Plumpton............

And agree Nass and Shergy, Sandown is an example for everything that's right about racing in general especially a duel code track
