i think our needs are slightly different, if we sign another centre back then it won’t be one needed to play immediately and therefore will be another youngster or someone without big league experience, would be nice to sign a young polish centre back

Yes the nerves seem to have finally started calming and the need for a leader at the back is an interesting one. ABK is clearly already having an impact on Salisu’s play as he seems to be much more settled alongside ABK. I also noticed in yesterdays game how ABK was talking, pointing and gesturing to his fellow defenders and midfielders numerous times during the game. I know he’s really young but he already seems mature beyond his years and certainly seems to have some real leadership qualities. Let’s hope that continues.
They say leaders are made not born, but often there is a characteristic there already that simply emerges when faced with a particular circumstance. Good leadership has less to do with age and experience IMO. Despite the links with another CB, I don’t think we need one just yet unless it’s someone who can play anywhere in a back 4 . For flexibility, ANM would be a decent acquisition (and improvement) to the squad. I do wonder about Garner and Broja as their clubs would probably only prefer to let them be sold after the matches with us.
Me too. Bo-ring! But in all seriousity, there has got to be more interesting options. We managed Mara and I think he has shown a lot of spark and could quite possibly end up doing more for us for less. I think those Chelsea/City/United young players/squad options might be getting itchy feet as the window goes on with no sign of a regular role but maybe they hold them until January. We’ll see.
Why? For the first part of the season he was exactly what we where looking for. I don't know what happened after, but he seemed to in the dumps just not himself. Yes you can say he was sulking but just remember, he's a 19 year old kid. If Saints get the opportunity to sign him, in my opinion they should be all over it.
It’s quite possible he just got a bit frustrated by the quality of players around him. He would certainly not stand out in the same way in the 22/23 team. We may just bring the best out in him. The issue is do we really want someone who is even capable of switching off as he did last season?
Now Ralph have coaching staff he can trust, perhaps the support system for Broja will be completely different? We always forget that even though these players make a ton of money, they also have the same issues as us mere mortals. Who knows what was wrong with Broja could be family/friend problems, outside pressure along with Ralph's demands.
He was on loan with us for 1 season, he should’ve been sulking. If he’s called up to play he should be putting that shirt on so fast he gets shirt-burn.
Broja can do one after his attitude and drop off last season. Good player, slight overhyped imo, but not for us at the fee's quoted.
Your point? He was paid good money to play for us, and his lack of effort at times was startling. Give me someone who wants to play for the shirt, I don't care about their age

If we only talked about developments it’s be a pretty boring thread. Not sure about Broja but it does seem strange that after all the hype last season and clubs allegedly queuing up, he’s still at Chelsea and not getting game time
Broja is still at Chelsea because Chelsea have lost the plot and have no idea what players are ‘worth’. I imagine we’re still talking about him because we are still in the market for a striker and he is an option in theory, though it seems pretty unlikely for a whole number of reasons.
