He makes all the key decisions. He didn't value Neil to a certain amount and Neil did. If speakman did, I am sure KLD would have sorted it. Speakman didn't believe Neil was worth the going rate. Stoke did. Therefore he left. I think that's a poor call from speakman.

He simply wanted a rolling contract so he could leave as soon as a club nearer his home were interested. Preston to Stoke is half the travelling time of Preston to Sunderland. He could probably get more moneyas well as less compensation would be payable.
He may well make the key decisions but those decisions will be made within the sustainability model and will be subject to scrutiny by his employers. To use an old cliché, he is in a results driven business and if he doesn't perform he will not be at SAFC very long, the people that KLD has surrounded himself with will see to that. Neil has accepted a post as manager of Stoke which suggests to me that he is happier not working under a DoF, which is his choice but it isn't Speakmans fault.
