Brighton want a hefty fee for a loan, which might push Blackburn ahead of us, will post it up in the transfer thread when I get a few minutes

There are definitely some very good coaches working under the headline names like Lampard, Gerrard etc. Maybe a few more fancy a shot at a no1 job after those lads you mention have stepped out of the shadows.

Well no one apart from you it seems DOES know. And what you say is incomplete.

Speakman can do no wrong in some eyes, but if he was elsewhere he would be getting laughed at.

No point in keeping quiet mate, there is also no point in going around in circles just agree to disagree. Anyhow I am talking nonsense, I only replied cos I wanted to point out that you say Neil has left, but Speakman is left. The ****ing English language man, the same word with the opposite meaning.

5 live have just reported we’re after a young and upcoming head coach.

I think the gun has definitely been jumped on Mowbray.

Not all Managers/Coaches like having a Director of Football working above them but it quite common now particularly overseas , they see it as infringing on how they want to do things - they want to be the Manager not having someone more senior to them calling the shots and downgrading their role to coach . Possible this is the reason for AN throwing in his cards , he must have been very unhappy to decide to pack his bags for Stoke City , he is doing himself a disservice as he is worth better though by his conduct in dropping us in the proverbial -probably not , they probably deserve each other .

I'm not going to get too hung up on the appointment of the new coach or be too critical before I've seen them do their job for us. It's the way of the world now for everyone to have very strong opinions and when it comes to football, most of us are wrong as much as we're right.

Mowbray seems to be the front runner. He's a little underwhelming in terms of name/profile but he's a very experienced manager at this level and the fact that he has a working relationship with Stuart Harvey is a positive rather than a negative in my opinion.

Manning was someone I liked last time and I like again. A young and progressive coach that plays attractive football.

Barry is the most exciting to me, but purely on the basis of the complete unknown quantity and I don't know his limitations so the possibilities are endless. He's highly rated as a coach though and as a "set piece specialist". People like Roberto Martinez and Youri Tielemans endorsing his talent is high praise.

Wellens doesn't seem realistic. He looks to be doing an excellent job at Leyton Orient (15 game sample size) and he looked like a very impressive young manager at Swindon but there's downs in between which make his record questionable. It would seem like too much of a step up at this point.

I'm not sure if this is a thing that happens but could Mowbray have come in as a consultant? As in here's an experienced manager who ties in with the club's philosophy, let's show him a list of up and coming managers and get his presumably well informed opinion ahead of interviews.
