I concur they are officially banned now. But the evidence is all in a seperate thread. Does anyone really believe that we would have done what we have in 12 months. I don’t recall the feel good factor being this good before.
70% max of turnover on wages, transfers… by 25/26. Max 60m euros loss over 3 years. How can a club with a current turnover well below 200m spend 400m on transfers in 3 years? Commercial revenue will go up but not by anywhere near that much.
It’s not about the actual spend. It’s how it’s released to the profit and loss account. So for example. We buy a player for 58m and it’s a five year contract. That is released to the p and L over 5 years. So it’s only 12m (max) a year. Sign 400m of players over 5 years and it’s a release of 80m a year pre wages. Then take into account an additional 50m of commercial income a year. That bets at 30m. We can make a 35m lose in 3 years so that sweeps the balance prior to wages. The key here is Ashley kept such a tight ship that we where in profit. So we could actually spend more. BUT…. We have to increase commercial income. So we can slunk 400m and still be within FFP. But then that’s when we have to match income with expense.
We have to increase commercial income AND get in (and stay in the CL) or the spending will come to a grinding halt. Our commercial revenue has barely shifted over the last couple of seasons. Presumably the wage bill has shot up. Finessing the accounts only gets you so far.
The commercial income will come mate. Trust me. The PIF have some very VERY big connections and provided we can prove commerciality (the levels have already been set by other PL clubs) we can increase this easily by 100m a year. In 5 years time we will be turning over as much as the top 6 easily.
100m extra a year? Based on what? That would take us to Arsenal/Tottenham levels. We are a long way off those two.
Have you seen the commercial income streams of the top 6. It dwarfs ours right now. And PIF have so many contacts. They will expose their business interests on commercial revenue streams in the 10’s of millions. Each. The Saudi market is completely untapped from a PL perspective give and we have just gained an additional 40m fans overnight. Our owners are recruiting the best of the best in the football world to drive us forward.
I hope he doesn’t think there are too many “gingers” in Newcastle. That would definitely change his mind.
Of course they’re far higher than ours. They are much bigger clubs than us. We can’t just go and get a shirt deal that matches those teams. Fair value won’t allow it. And a few additional Saudis running around in an NUFC top really isn’t going to make that much difference. We are global minnows in comparison to the pull of the big teams.
