No we weren’t! Mainly because we had a manager with a huge amount of negative baggage who was failing on the pitch.

But fair play to him - we now have a good team playing attractive football and he’s endeared himself to a majority of the fan base.

I am very interested to see how he does this season for us. Enough has been said by me regarding his record in L1 with us. After a bad start to L2 he did incredibly well to get us back to L1. He now needs to keep the momentum going and show us what he cant actually do with us in this division. The turn around he has made regarding his position at the club is remarkable so fair shout to him. I hope he keeps this up. If he can keep himself out of trouble with the officials and with the police and don't talk daft stuff in his press interviews, then perhaps he could turn me into liking him.

Extending to 2026 is that so he isn't job hunted by another club?
IMO a big club still wouldn't touch him for obvious reasons even though his promotion at rovers

    Answer to your question... probably.
Response to a big club won't touch him... wrong because a big club (us ;)) touched him :)

Barton is trending on twitter and not in a good way. I'm thinking, what has he done now. But it's nothing. Stoke have sacked their manager and the bookies have him in Stokes top 3 to be their new manager and pretty much every Stoke fan are not happy about it. Like I was when he was linked with us.

He was linked with relegated Burnley in May and came out saying he wasn't ready for that job and wouldn't want to be anywhere else than Rovers. Can't see him 3 months later be willing to take the Stoke job.

I would be very surprised if Barton left us right now, because he seems to be in a good place, with good support and he talks about wanting to see this through. He's a young manager with still quite a bit to learn, and his stock will rise and he will get a big job a few years down the road, particularly if he has success with Rovers and crucially if he keeps out of the sort of troubles that seem to have followed him around.

Wold be surprised if Stoke offered him the job with the court case coming at the end of October, if he was to get a custodial sentence they would have to look for another new manager, also as they backed the previous manager in the transfer market what chance does the new man get to bring in his own players, the only plus side of them sacking the manager is the new man might send Connor Taylor back to us on loan
