Cantwell is in the extra year now, his contract expires next sumer with no existing option for it to be extended.

So he's going to wind down the contract and take 100% of the signing fee as a free agent potentially ?

That would be a slap in the face

Certainly an option for him. I think if NCFC want a deal we'll start to hear talks in a few months, assuming he continues to fit in and contribute well. Probably in Cantwell's interest, especially if he's performing well, to keep rebuilding his profile and see where he can go in the summer. Or at least that way he can squeeze more money out of Norwich.

Would it be? He hasn’t lived up to his early promise (yet). He went to Bournemouth on loan and hardly tore up trees. We give players contracts of three or four years to protect the club from being tied into a player we don’t really want - if we don’t want him, he leaves on a free and that’s that. If we want to keep him, then he should be offered a new contract but frankly he needs to perform better (he’s doing pretty well, but still got more to do) and then round about January the conversation starts.

Transfer market has his value at £16m which seems mad, Tod has been with us since a kid and the idea of an academy for a self funding club like ours is to turn a profit or have a first team player.

If the club have no intention of offering him a contract then transfer list him .

Yeah. With a year left on his contract I can’t believe he’s worth more than £4m right now though. And as he’s not been in good form is anyone really going to be sniffing around even that? The fact is that contracts run down and so player values reduce accordingly - that’s not necessarily bad football management, it’s to protect the club and sometimes you lose out. But equally sometimes you win - eg with Buendia tied on a contract we got the benefit of him and, in the grand scheme of things, quite good value - at least for now. I’d be more focused on getting value for Aarons than a risky strategy around Cantwell who we can’t be sure will ever live up to his purported £16m valuation (which I think is well out of date tbh).

    Gunn
    Byram Tomkinson Gibson McLean
    Sara Ramsey Cantwell
    Rashica Hugill Springett

    ?

Maybe McLean is in midfield, Springett can apparently play LB?

    Byram Tomkinson Gibson Springett
    Sara McLean Ramsey
    Rashica Hugill Cantwell

Looks a bit more sensible, but that left side looks pretty lightweight defensively.

Springett getting a chance to put in a miracle performance at LB and suggest we don't need to sign anyone?

Barden on the bench, fantastic for him to be back.

11 Changes from the weekend for Bournemouth, so similar to us. Depth is probably better than last year!

Assume 4-2-3-1, with Sara Ramsey central 2, Springett right & Rashica left? Possible 4-1-4-1?
Little weak, likely best lineup with risking too many injuries

That's how the club are now showing it. Midfield is a total unknown, up against Ben Pearson. Eek. No injuries please.
