I wouldn’t be against giving Vestergaard a go, but we MUST defend deeper as he (And Evans) are slow. I felt for him a bit last year as he was awful yet BR was insistent on playing him higher up the pitch like a lamb to slaughter
Dont want to comment on the game itself but couldnt help but notice the number of empty seats at the game. Nice sunny day and an expected win so why is this?
Because the club have decided if you haven't got a booking history, you won't be able to unless you sign up to become a member. Basically it is saying, if one day your son/daughter wakes up one morning and says to you " I'd like to go and watch Leicester play" you wouldn't be able to, even if they are on general sale. It seems the club would prefer to have empty seats!!!!!! Madness!
For some unknown and ridiculous reason, the club decided not to allow general sale tickets. So, if you didn't have a booking history you couldn't buy a ticket. Madness. Should be encouraging people to come, people who haven't been for a while or the next generation. Lots of them were in pairs too, which is the usual complaint from people who want tickets. Although I'm not sure attending that match would actually make you want to go back....
Leeds 3 - 0 Chelsea Attacking, pressing and on the front foot from Leeds. All the things we used to be good at. More depressingly, Chelsea will be looking to bounce back in their next league match. Defensively Chelsea didn't look great so we should be adding a few extra £M on to Forfana's price tag.
I wonder what the chances are of us holding onto Fofana until January while still being able to get the best out of him. Amartey is starting to look out of his depth again. Am I the only one who thought he could have headed the ball away for the second Saints goal if he'd actually jumped? I already had him down as being at fault for both Brentford goals. Eight goals conceded in 3 games - worst in the division. Up front we lack self-belief and aggression. One shot on target yesterday from a free kick and a start striker who only had 11 touches of the ball. With Lookman gone we lack any real pressing and pace. It's looking like a long and difficult season with the current squad.
Amartey had a bit of a shocker ... I'd play Vestergaard, Soyuncu and Evans in a back 3 with Castagne and Justin as wing backs. Vestergaard not only has the size but he is one of the best long range passers at the club ... he could enable the wing backs from deep ... Wilf shielding the back 3 and KDH and Madders in the engine room ... Vardy and Barnes as twin strikers ... Simples
I imagine Veatergaard and Soyuncu will play tonight - surely one (or both!) must make the weekend team! For me: Ward (just) Vestergaard/Fofana Evans Soyuncu Castagne Ndidi KDH Maddison Justin Barnes/Ihenacho Vardy
I think he will rest more: Iverson Justin Fofana Soyuncu Thomas Mendy Praet Tielemans KDH Iheancho Daka
Tonight I reckon: Iverson Albrighton Amartey Vestergaard Soyuncu Thomas Mendy Praet Perez Ihenacho Daka
Not televised over here and at work so had to rely on BBC website. Looks very much like the Southampton game, plenty of possession but no end product albeit shooting on site. Thank goodness for Iversen.
Chelsea will be quaking in their boots after that performance. Iversen to start on Saturday? Knowing Brendan, it will be a toss-up between Ward and Perez.
So, another defeat and another week at the bottom. Things just arent firing at the moment, obviously. Says a lot when we have Ndidi playing centre back again. Except last time we didnt have three fit centre backs to choose from. Cags clearly out of favour and Vesterguaard should have sucked up the pay cut and gone to Fulham as he isnt getting a game with us. Amartey paid the price for being indecisive in the last couple of games. Keeping on the negative I think KDH is starting to get found out as a one footed player and we have zero width on the left. The pluses, Ndidi was good, and I thought Soumare had his best game yet. Im not for sacking Rodgers as I still beleive he can get us out out of this and there is no better alternative. Upwards against Brighton.
Agreed, NZ. It was Soumare's best game so far. And I was pleasantly surprised. His breakup play was good although his distribution needs a bit of work. And we didn't miss Wilf being moved back to centre half, where he had a reasonable game. We were totally unbalanced down the flanks. Barnes had Thomas to work with down the left, but Justin had absolutely no one. He was wary of going too far forwards because he had no one to cover him. Putting Maddison wide right on the team sheet doesn't translate to where he plays. Consequently we ended up totally toothless up front again. I'll be very surprised if we get anything from a confident and improving Brighton team. I just hope the heads don't drop and we take a real beating.
What an odd line up today. Can't see us bossing midfield with that shape. And I wouldn't play Tielemans ... an accident waiting to happen defensively. Could it be a case of the team is so bad they could actually be good?
