It's supposed to be about the 'experience' lots of small dishes to savour the wonder of the varied tastes

Bollocks to that. Give me a bucket of fried chicken wings and some hot sauce

 

C'mon there a place for fine dining, the stuff is usually really good.

 

I'm not a fan of places that serve up those poxy little portions though. I appreciate good food and fine dining, but it doesn't have to be three thinly sliced strips of carpaccio beef with a truffle drizzle that leaves both your wallet and your stomach empty.

Some of the best food can be what would considered to be good old fashioned honest grub, as long as it's done well and with good quality ingredients. I went to a gastro pub the other week and had Sausage and mash with an onion gravy. It was one of the best things I've eaten in ages.

 

Yeah but it's different and a place for both imo.

 

I'm with you mate, I'd be fooking the Shard off. Plus London is expensive enough, but these Tories eh.

 

Horses for courses innit. I've been to a few fine dining restaurants and whilst the food is 'impressive', it's more of an experience that a meal.

They are the kind of places people go, where they want a night out somewhere posh, but don't actually like to eat

 

Yeah always tend to have something when I get home from them.

 

I like the taster menus they do with recommended drinks, love that.

 

Yeah, that's a different thing. I like that sort of stuff too. Defo more set up as a food and drink tasting session.

Last one I went to I had a chocolate torte with a home made pistacio ice cream, paired up with a Pedro Ximenez port wine. Amazing stuff

 

We have a great one a few miles away, owner/chef just got his first Michelin star, fully deserved too and he's a really nice down to earth bloke, was speaking to him for about an half hour one evening, nothing pretentious about him whatsoever

 

Sorry mate Mr pedantic here, Pedro Ximinex is a sweet sherry, a very delicious one too.

 

Had a ding dong last night with my son and the missus.
At one point she had empty(emptied down my kneck) bottle of booze in hand threatening to hit me over the head with it.

And this was all because I asked my son to use the two under cupboard lights instead of the ten kitchen halogens.
He told me it was his right to have as many lights on as he wanted.

I went all stupid ****, switched all the lights on, put the heating on full, went outside to trigger the halogen security light and declared the the whole street "it's my ****in right!"

 

She's not happy today.
I've got tickets to the Man City game and was planning on asking for a lift so I can get absolutely ****faced.
