As you say James Bond was a post war white man

However 007 could be a black man or black or white woman as would be appropriate in this modern age

    Just not a ****ing trans

So anyway... following on from the convo yesterday about 'go to films' when you stick something on you can just enjoy without having to think too much, do you have them? Mine are often

    Starship Troopers
    Goodfellas
    Wolf of Wall Street
    Mad Max Fury Road
    Tremors

If I feel like an easy comedy
    Anchorman
    Pineapple Express
    Groundhog Day

Do ppl have these, films they'll either stick on or if they see it on telly and want something to chill to will put it on?

I watched it for a second time yesterday. If only for the Vegas sets. Really good film. Good performances by both the main men.

No shoot 'em up or physical type films? A Predator or a Fight Club?

Not really, Dazed and Confused is another of mine.

Used to watch The Breakfast Club a lot but too old now don't want to ruin it.

The bloke playing Elvis was superb, Tom Hanks was Tom Hanks which is always good but rarely great.

Coincidence that, I was going to include Breakfast Club but I stopped a while ago. There's a few films like that.

    Never seen Dazed and Confused.

Mate Dazed and Confused is just a Linklater classic. You have to sort that.

He really was. My kids told me he used to be on kids shows when he was younger? They also told me he couldn't shake off the Elvis voice/accent after shooting the film, he'd got so into it.

I disagree about Hanks. I genuinely forgot it was him. I didn't know anything about Parker and he was such a piece of **** in the film that I had to remind myself it was Hanks. So I thought he was excellent.

Not recently as i don't have the tv on as much anymore but in the past when i was not living with the missus, these always came up and we'd watch them on tv or something we'd put on:

    Zoolander
    Gladiator
    Shawshank Redemption
    Matrix
    Bourne
    Mission Impossible 1
    Team America
    Anchorman
    Dodgeball

There's some there I need on my list - Dodgeball, Matrix, MI, Bourne <ok>

Gladiator and Shawshank are excellent and watched both enough, but I have to be in the right frame to watch them. I can't just stick them on, especially Shawshank.

What you got against Linklater? Filmed with the same actors over 12 years, takes the coming of age drama to another level.

Just had a quick read I like the sound of the first, not sure about the second.
