Neither side has any players suspended, though Conte faces one due to the end of the Chelsea match. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Royal, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son. Subs: Forster, Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, Perisic, Bissouma, Gil, Moura, Richarlison. Wolves: Sa; Otto, Collins, Kilman, Ait-Nouri; Dendoncker, Neves; Podence, Gibbs-White, Neto; Hwang. Subs: Sarkic, Semedo, Toti, Boly, Ronan, Cundle, Campbell, Traore, Guedes. Ref: Simon Hooper. VAR: Lee Mason. TV: BT Sport 1. How would you like to line up for this one?
Let’s see what depth the squad has now that Romero is out will the replacement put in a ‘this is my chance’ shift or an ‘I’m not first team anyway’ kind of performance I expect 3 points
I think we can expect Sanchez to start in his place and we know what he can do. Expecting 3 points? We lost this fixture last year. Traore. They will probably be missing Coady more than us and Cuti. Edit: And now they have a debutante to run the show- Nunes
we may have lost last season but we were all disappointed for a reason We should be winning…we are better than them
Strongest available starting XI again please. Win this game, then IMHO the Forest game is the one where Conte can begin to experiment with squad rotation for the starting XI.
Gonna be one forced change but I’d like to see three in total. This is where the beauty of having our new improved squad should come into play. Lenglet in for Romero - Dier to RCB and Lenglet CCB. At home vs Wolves we should be looking to have considerable possession and Lenglet seems the best ball playing CB we have. Perisic in for Sess - no brainer. Came on and bagged the assist for the equaliser whilst Sess was back to his usual poor form. Richarlison in for Son - now we have four top forwards, whoever fails to impress in a game should immediately be dropped for the following match, Son’s been poor the last two games so Richy deserves a shot, especially after looking lively. This will keep players on their toes. Bissouma also shouldn’t be far away from pushing for a start but neither CM so far has been bad enough to warrant being dropped just yet, can easily change. Hugo Dier, Lenglet, Davies Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Perisic Kulu, Kane, Richarlison Edit: Helps if I actually put Richarlison in the XI
Son is a much better player than Richarlison and how he played last game is not a good indicator of how he will play in the next one. Happy for rotation to happen but not on that basis.
I think we’ll see Sanchez in and not much else, though I’d like to see a different RWB from Emerson and Bissouma given a start over Bentancur, who I love but didn’t have a good game against Chelsea. And Perisic for Sess would be good too, though I’d worry about his pace and defensive acumen if he came up against Traore. So maybe something like: Lloris Sanchez Dier Davies Doherty Bissouma Højbjerg Perisic Kulu Kane Son I think the major rotation will kick in once we start playing more than once a week (ish), so maybe some changes for Forest and Fulham so we can be strong for West Ham and City.
There's been a lot of "Wolves are the sort of team Son doesn't turn up against" sentiment on r/coys this week, presumably because people looked up his record against Wolves: P7 G0 A2
That will have to : 1. begin in earnest next month, when the CL fixtures are announced 2. be seriously in effect during october, with *9* games that month and at least 8 pts up for grabs on the "season compass / PL like for likes" .
Quality of player shouldn’t result in immunity when in bad form, more so when you have a good squad and players that can step in.
Sounds like Romero wanted to play against Wolves but Conte said the club doesn’t want to risk it. It’s promising that it’s likely not as long as first suggested, felt liked he miss 5+ games, could well be back for Forest.
The issue is how you tell he is in bad form. One or two poor performances is not enough especially with Son who often plays badly for a couple of matches and then looks world class for the next five
Two is enough when there’s now options in the squad. Last season we couldn’t rotate him and Kane (or Kulusevski when he joined) when they underperformed, now we can. It’s the beauty of us building a very strong squad.
