Clubs kept quoting £40+ million for targets so we've moved steadily down the list until Watford said £25million for Joao Pedro. Watford fans seem nearly unanimous in wanting that bid rejected - many want to keep him as their star player and build a team around him. Roland and GG know better and are disgusted by the prospect of signing such a low goal count wastrel. Keep in mind though that GG was quite optimistic and pleased (I'll say delighted) with the Chris Wood signing and Roland has previously admitted that he is always wrong. These two opinions are therefore probably our greatest hope that the transfer, if it happens, will be a success.
I expect we'll have to see a few outgoings as well, either permanent or on loans. We've already got Clark, Hayden & Hendrick out on loan, but even IF we don't sign anyone else, we still need to offload at least another 3 senior players. I guess those most at risk are: Gillespie (unless either either Dubs or Darlow leave) Then 2 out of: Lewis Watts Ritchie Dummett Fernandez Krafth I guess it depends on whether they see value in developing Lewis & Watts, and whether or not the likes of Fernandez, Ritchie, & Dummett still have anything to offer. But that's BEFORE we sign anyone else (hopefully), in which case we'd need ro offload even more. IF we do get in a couple of attacking players, then it should put the likes of Murphy at risk too.
35m for a relegated club sub player. That's ****ing comical. Either we are amateur or it's just the usual BS media reports. Roll onto 1st September.
Good players can get relegated in crap sides , but he can quite play and if he add goals to his game he'll be worth a ****ing fortune within 1 season.
It might be best if we walk away from deals like this. We've dodged a couple of bullets already thankfully - Delli Ali and Carlos. Not sure how the three goal man stacks up, but howay, £30m!
