I always Park and Ride now, rather than trying to park around the ground. 20 minutes for me to Portbury park and ride. Bus gets it’s on lane on Portway so at the ground in less than an hour where used to take over an hour to park there. Plus added bonus two tickets return or family return less than parking charges.

It was all to do with mates rates for £12. Plus a Saturday. We average about 20k over the season so with Sunderland selling out and mates rates was all to do with that game.

I think most of the games I regularly went to up till the 90's had crowds of 16k at best? There was always 2 or 3 in car and our target was to park about 5 mins walk from game. even when getting there 20 -30 mins from start was always 99.5% in open end.
Most streets 500m or so from ground at 11am probably had 50% of roads empty and yellow lines and no parking except for .. were lacking. Most houses 1 car now about 2 ...

That's fair enough, but a decent performance and result against Sunderland would have almost certainly brought more people in last night ?
Mind you the weather didn't help !

pollution in Bristol I frequent with a friend who works for a company that has dealings mostly with TFL [ LONDON CHARGING] ... we had a discussion about Bristol where he has minor dealings his colleague covers Bristol.

take a perfectly wind free day with or without cloud drive a vehicle on a route around Bristol for 1 hour and take normal driving conditions mileage and fuel consumption speed limits as were pre 20 mph.
    mileage or time?
well it is a route so take the route but max speed is mostly 20mph and time it takes is 1 hour 16 mins [actual journey at 3.30 -4.30pm / 4.46pm ] work out approx fuel consumption [ not that difficult as needed to stop on 5th cut out of pump ]
Notes taken at all junctions Traffic lights .. speed rigidly up to permitted .. gear changes ... etc vehicle was 1900cc diesel result was .
Slowing down to 20 mph was more polluting by around 17% he was the loser he said slowing down was better for non pollution He also used his work computer system to do a similar exercise and it came out 9% [ but state it was fixed info like vehicle reccomends etc ] but conceeded his argument was not wrong but has flaws ....

The threatening to leave is maybe ott, but his point about the standard of refereeing is correct, as backed up by ex- ref Hacket, something has to be done , the refereeing is so poor at championship level.

I have to agree with them. I don't like how much he is whinging about decisions; it happens; even VAR doesn't overcome this, as we have seen. Get on with it and stop moaning, or retire, it's as simple as that for me.

Shearer, Lineker, Murphy etc etc are all the same doing the easiest job in the world.
I have zero respect for these people who hide in a TV studio never having the balls to become a manager.

Lee Johnson has just gone up in my admiration of him.

Someone has to stand up and be counted, the standard of refereeing at championship level is at an all time low. When an ex referee comes out and agrees it shows how bad it is. If I’m honest I’d prefer it wasn’t our manager saying these things, but someone has to.

just been reading up about PGMOL referee's there is 18 full time referee's designated to Championship, all clubs pay £50k per annum for them!! Some prem ref's get to ref championship and Championship refs do odd games in div 1/2

so being "independant" they could , if they dont already have a questionaire for the manager or assistant to complete each game .. bit like Amazon/ Ebay/ Paypal / call centre ones maybe just 5 Q's 24 hours after match ...
rate referee OVERALL out of 5
    rate linesman 1 /2 out of 5
Q4 was there any seriously bad decisions by referee
    5. Why was Q1 rating given good or bad points eg 5/5 reason for rating was understanding and fair kept game flowing was in control etc .......

I think each ref gets to do 2 games for each team as an average [ 552 games played per season and 18 refs? ]

Steady RP I wouldn't go that far <laugh>

I liked what Graeme Souness said about the Chelsea v Spurs game as being 'a mans game' when it got physical, which has upset some of the wimmin footballers apparently.
And good for him for standing by the comments and refusing to apologise, while yet more nameless women presenters now chair and preside over the EFL football show on ITV (at least the first episode was), and this is happening in ever increasing numbers with more and more female reporters on Sky.
I'm not sexist, I just think it's plain wrong and I'd rather have a male ex professional who has played the mens game in the EFL or Premiership giving us their insights.

Ex-Bristol City striker receives vile death threats after playing against former club
The striker came up against his old club Waterford on Monday evening while playing for Cork and took to social media to highlight some of the messages he received
    https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-death-threats-club-7475390

'Another voice message said: "F*** you Louis Britton, if you see this message you dirty b****** treating Waterford like that. Next time you come to Waterford you're getting your head smacked in. I hope your mother kills herself and you slit her throat you dirty b******".'

    Disgusting mentality..<grr>

    Spot on Angelic.
I don't know how Souness kept a straight face sat next to a 'person' who's only played junior football.
Can't believe every flaming broadcast we have a woman talking about football.

Bristol Live understands the FA have reviewed the footage but Pearson’s criticism doesn’t meet their threshold for a disciplinary charge.

So FA is in agreement that NP IS CORRECT! or has a good case ....
    the rule is .......
Managers are permitted to criticise referees but FA Rule E3.1 states that, "A participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use anyone, or a combination of violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour."
In short, the competence of a referee can be criticised, but not in a manner that implies bias or is of a personal nature
    .

So went about it the right way!

I think the opinions of DM and the other geezer are a bit like Sir KS has to have an opposite opinion to gather more impact and gain awareness.
to be honest I dont give much credence to pundits they have to be controversial! 20man however is a completly different kettle of fish he uses Questions does not dictate themes!

More Sol Bamba chatter extracted from WalesOnline

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cardiff-city-transfer-news-leeds-24780087

    Robins' plan for Bamba
Former Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba is training with Bristol City for the next two weeks - but Robins boss Nigel Pearson is giving no promises of a contract to the vastly experienced centre-back.

Bamba was released by Middlesbrough at the end of last season and has ben mulling over his next step in football. That may well be continuing to play, possibly with the Ashton Gate outfit, who are in need of another central defender at present.

It was confirmed Bamba had joined the rest of the Robins squad at the High Performance Centre on Monday.

Pearson said after their 2-0 win over Luton : “Sol’s in the building for a couple of weeks to get fit and then we’ll see where it goes. I like him, he’s a good man, he’s a very positive character who’s got great game understanding but no promises - he’s here to train and if something else happens then I’ll let you know when it does.

“Sol’s not here under any pretence of coming here for a contract. I’ve done it before with a few players, they’re out of contract at places and you give them the opportunity to get fit in a club training environment. Sometimes it’s nice to help people out.”

The 37-year-old has bags of experience, with 426 senior appearances for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Hibernian, Leicester City, Leeds United, the Bluebirds and Middlesbrough under his belt, as well as being capped 46 times for his national team.

Pearson’s relationship with Bamba stretches all the way back to their time at Leicester City in 2011, as well as the manager taking the defender on trial at Derby County in 2016.
