It's a tough one because they are great. Bamford could lead the line for any of the top end PL clubs but obviously Man City, Pool and Spurs have better...does anyone else though ? Joffy will play second fiddle to Bamford and needs serious minutes this season which he will get as things stand. One of them gets injured though and we're fooked.
Bamford will keep himself in shape, he has got Qatar in his sights and to play second fiddle to Kane.
21 out of the door now, original post updated except for the details. If its a loan it means he will have signed a new contract, could the contract stipulate a guaranteed by like Costas, or it could be a sale now? Will confirm when I know
Clearly it's been decided we needed a refresh down at the lower age groups which is fair enough I suppose. Now we need to recruit some more top talent to replace those that have gone. It's a good policy as maybe sometimes we've hung onto young players a little too long in recent years. I'm thinking Leif Davis and Edmonton for starters but you'd probably know better Doc. The other thing that's rarely mentioned is the cost (wages wise) of recruiting 5 new relatively experienced first teamers whilst selling only two. Although that's clearly not true with Shaks & Roberts also off the wage bill. Still it would be nice to know the overall numbers for the current season compared to last following this summers ins & outs.
Jammy we have 2 schools of thought on the kids and we need to be brutal. Orta brought in some really good players who we sold as kids or they left as kids because they wasn't getting opportunities. I give you 2 CBs who came into the club around the same time one a bit older but left because he saw no way through (Aapo Halme) the other was Pascal Struijk. However we an appalling strike rate of so-called worldy kids who dont make it out on loan, and we have history of releasing/selling up to 20 every year. Davies started off so-so and is now an Ipswich player, Clarke at Sunderland sort of made it, but where are McCalmont, Casey, Kun and a whole lot more. Huggins I wont include yet as he is recovering from a very bad injury, but reality is only Drameh has made it back. Bogusz has come close but probably leaving and even Poveda is on his way out. Cresswell has a chance but Lewis Bate on the bench last night for Oxford, maybe we send them to the wrong clubs but the strike rate is crap, maybe the same with the Chelsea conversion rate as they just keep going out on loan? Nohan Kenneh as an example left of his own accord and is doing a great job in the SPL for a kid so young and has even scored and assisted as well as shoring up the defence behind him. we do have some high profile kids but in the main the 23s and now 21s are in the main U18s/17s moving up. Still waiting to find out the McKinstry details too as it seems he was the instigator of the move and was wanted by a number of EFL clubs
The one stood in the box that elevates on the fire engine, with his hat pulled down so low, he can hardly see
Mckinstry gone on loan to Motherwell for the season. Saying he is in the last year of his contract. Is that right? Is he being offered an extension or is he done at the club?
Asked the same question but so far looks like thats it with Leeds. Pointless selling him or putting a sale option on the contract. If he didnt get offered an extension hes deffo history and the club will be recompensed by tribunal as he signed as a schoolboy and still an academy graduate
And yet they do well in Europe. Unlike us. So I suppose, by extension, that means that Europe is a pub league too. And yet we still can't get into European pub league because WE'RE not good enough.
Who said we were good enough?. But please remind me how many scots teams have lifted euro trophies and when. Rangers in the uefa pub league is the latest i can think of.
