I thought Sargent lead the line well, he made good runs and linked play well. A goal and was fouled for the red card, overall a good performance I think.
For me it’s his ability to make the runs in behind as well as link play and hold the ball up that put him ahead of Hugill. He may actually suit this team more than Pukki

22 shots 9 on target. I wonder what DS will say about the 2nd half display? Saving ourselves for next match?

Pukki hasn't been the same player since Ericsson collapsed against Finland in the Euros

That's mental lol. I can't believe he was the worst rated player. But then, as I mentioned, I thought he was excellent for his age. Still a few creases to iron out in his game, but generally, he was very good tonight.

Not sure what else we can do. Hanley is still better than Gibson. We needed to strengthen there imo, but we needed to strengthen the midfield more, which we have done. Núñez looks a player and Gibbs coming through will give Hayden some strong competition when he is back. Sørensen will have to revert to "play where we have too many injuries". Although, saying that, I thought Kenny was good at LB today

Watford and Burnley both drew, so that helps.

I expect it’s because it he was involved in so much defensively and going forward that when a pass went astray or he missed a tackle he was marked down. From the eye test he looked like he played really well, especially for his first start.

I agree as I’m not sure, I’d want both Hanley and Big Andy starting, which is why I suggested switching them around, but Gibson does look far more comfortable in th left side and if he could regain his previous Championship form may be a better option

We do play again on Friday night so I can see the sense in it as the game should have been comfortably put to bed. However, if I were to criticise DS I would say securing the points tonight was more important than resting legs given our recent points haul

Frustrating seeing Kortney Hause looks likely to join Watford on loan from Villa. Left sided CB with experience at LB sounds like an excellent addition right now.

From a boosting confidence point of view, which is something we have suffered from, the more players involved in a win the better.

Watford draw with Birmingham. Burnley draw with Hull. Maybe our results weren't that bad.

In fairness to DS, Sara nearly scored, but for a good save and Hernandez almost created one or two. If those chances go in everyone is happy and DS looks like a genius.

The only ones who failed to impress were Hugill and even he nearly scored, so again, DS would have looked good, and Rashica, who is in poor form. I guess DS wanted to rest Sinani as he is likely to start on Friday. They are very fine margins. Dowell was on a yellow, Cantwell was tiring, possibly due to his new found enthusiasm for actually running around (he looks much better for it!).

Anyway, we got 3pts and could have scored a bundle. Much more encouraging. Just the defensive errors to cut out now.

Lets be fair to Smith, he said Pukki’s foot was “too fat to get his boot on” <laugh><laugh>

My over all take is Aarons looks such a better player when bombing forward and looking to set players up.
McLean did fairly well doing a job for the team. Núnez if anything looks too good for this league. Cantwell looks a young man reinvented. Gibbs is the coming man. Sinani looks hungry and desperate to show what we’ve been missing for the last 3 years…and he’s doing that. Hugill is a handful, in a good way, no disrespect to his footballing ability - needs more minutes. Sargent (in Pukki’s absence) looked a little too desperate to impress and be the main man, but did really well. Hernandez…was just Hernandez!
