Thought he was the more likely of the midfielders to be leaving due to his contract being up this year
Would be a shame from a sentimental perspective but we there is no room for that in football these days. Whilst it is important to have experience and model pro's in the group, ultimately, if we can upgrade in a position in terms of both quality and future potential then we absolutely should.
It's also worth remembering too that Ralph said players will more likely be pushing to move when they see which players arent in the first team picture as they thought.
There’s also the comments that Romeu made about his future at the end of last season that suggested he might be looking to leave. Love Romeu and would be sad to see him go, equally would far rather keep him over Diallo, but can also see that the time might be right for both parties.
He is in the last year of a circa 60k a week contract. I can’t imagine we’d be keen to offer too long an extension so perhaps this is where it is coming from. Girona won’t get close to that though
Yes, exactly. They should be locked in an unused room at the stadium. Somewhere like the trophy room seeing as we have no other use for it. Our very own Hotel California
As far as I'm aware, Oriol has been keen to return to Spain (Catalunya if possible) since Covid kicked off. He nearly went to Celta Vigo a year or two ago.
In fairness, Ori is one of those players that should be able to leave absolutely on their own terms, with all our best wishes. What a top man he's been since he joined us.
I had in my mind he was likely to go the summer Hojbjerg left, until it became clear PEH was leaving and Romeu was back to first choice
