Exactly if ever there was a manager to back it’s Neil, do think we will just our approach now seems to take time/premier league players don’t get let go until late in the window, doesn’t make it any less frustrating though
Agree he's the best manager we've had in a long time. The owners need to make sure he has the resources he needs, and they, and us as fans, need to give him the time he needs.
I don't think there's any question Alex Neil isn't being backed, nor that he thinks he's not being backed. Its purely frustration at timing. I bet if you asked all 92 managers in the league, at least 80 of them would say they're frustrated as well. its a symptom of the stupid transfer window closure at end of August instead of end of July. If you think about it, its pretty bonkers for a manager to plan / prepare when at any moment he could have fewer or more players. it just makes no sense. I know they have to sync with all other leagues, but FIFA really need to move to a global universal transfer window of two one month periods a year. January and July. Absolutely no reason why more than a month should be needed.
Two weeks until the window shuts, we are probably 5 short, he’s right to get pissed off as are fans right to start to worry, it would be alright if we were still a league 1 side but not championship
Recommend people look at this https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/transfers/wettbewerb/GB2 Apart from clubs who have received big fees or are receiving parachute payments, we’ve probably had the biggest outlay on players. It’s a tough window
How do you know that though? We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, he might not be getting back as he thinks he should and be getting well pissed off.
yeh everyone is right to be annoyed / frustrated / pissed off by it. I just think its the fault of the system rather than the club. ask any manager and they'll say things aren't moving quickly enough. I bet even Forest who have signed like 15 players think they're a few short. On that note - I bet there's a fair few Forest players who helped them win promotion last season that will suddenly be available in the next fortnight, now that they've got all their premier league players in
FWIW Carl Winchester is now also out for the foreseeable with a back injury. Definitely a RCB will be top of agenda now.
gonna put it out there as purely a wikipedia scouting mission - Loïc Mbe Soh from Nottingham Forest. right sided center back. 21. hasn't played much for their first team having joined from PSG and will be looking for game time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loïc_Mbe_Soh was once a "FIFA Golden Boy" nominee https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2...-talent-to-nottingham-forest-during-2-2-draw/
It doesn't necessarily mean there's massive conflict there. We can read too much into these type of comments. This is all a bit deja vu - but in the end the last 2 windows have been pretty good in terms of incomings. Alex Neil knows things will go down to the wire as he said in his pre-match conference before QPR.
I guess some of the factors stopping them doing that will be dosh, guaranteed game time and injury concerns.
Are we penny pinching ? I think some people reckon we have a poor budget, me personally I think its down to a lack of movement in the transfer market.
My personal view is we are probably being very selective and clever with our money, rather than penny pinching. I guess thats the same thing but with a positive spin rather than a negative one
Enough window shopping, visits and look abouts. Time to close and get bodies in. Doesn't take many injuries to completely screw up the positive start.
I take this to mean there's a lot going on but as with any contract, there's a lot of negotiation. Things were so much easier when we let people take the piss.
