SAFC fans are difficult to keep happy , they all want different things , nobody knows what kind of deal this is , the recruitment team have got most of their calls right , nothing’s happening- then we are supposed to be signing an 18 year old international player and lots of people are moaning . Sorry but we should be happy if the deal isn’t massively expensive and eat in to the recruitment budget too much , I trust the management team and if they think he is worth the risk so be it .
I'm obviously not saying he's similar but Ronaldo was raw as **** when Utd signed him. He was very fast and had tricks but he hadn't put everything together at that age. I'm willing to give a player a chance. You never know.
If this signing rumour is genuine I will enjoy watching how he goes. Obviously a young lad and this will be a major step for him. I do think a left sided player is a gap as competition for Clarke. One of those deals that could just be low risk / high reward. Also, Paulo Wanchope came from Herediano to Derby County in the late 90s. He ended up being a bit of a cult hero...
I'm not moaning about the signing I just said I couldn't get excited by it, if he's going to be coming in and straight into the first team squad. Highly doubt he'd be coming in solely for the u23s. I really hope he makes me eat my words and is a big hit. I'm just hoping for good signings for the spine of the team because as we saw at the weekend and against Coventry we're struggling to see games out due to lack of quality cover in the crucial areas of the pitch. All my opinion of course.
Why is lack of cover the reason we’ve dropped points? Poor tactical decisions and mistakes from those on the field are why we’ve dropped points..
It's part of it imo. I'm sure Neil would've loved to have brought on a like for like replacement for Simms for example if he was struggling and tiring. Or bring on a strong centre midfielder to help out Evans, because Neil was clearly struggling. We saw against Sheff weds and the similar team that played in the games preseason that our reserve players are maybe not good enough. I'd also agree with what you said to by way, I was just highlighting another part of it. Like said, it's just my opinion.
That's a fair point also. When I said the reserves weren't good enough it was more to the point that the manager maybe thinks that way, maybe why he's reluctant to change. Take Matete, everytime Neil has played him it's more as a defensive midfielder. From what I've seen of Matete he looks better in the middle of midfield where he can get up and down because one thing he does have is energy but seems to give the ball away a fair bit. He can't get away with it in front of the defence though. Thought he would've be ideal to bring for Neil in the last twenty minutes of the game Saturday. For his workrate but the manager saw fit to leave him out.
QPR, goals against, silly free kick to give away in a dangerous place. Wall and keeper not up to preventing a great dead ball shot. 2nd goal, scored by their keeper, should ours have stayed on his line? Should the defence done better(Simms a big lad, not on pitch). Could the corner have been prevented.
Exactly, nout to do with our squad depth. QPR’s second was awful, first from Patterson then roberts and Gooch just stood there and let Chair put the ball back in. Gooch was also the one who gave away the free kick, easily a case that both goals were his fault. Coventry scored late on because we didn’t close down Gyokores and let him shoot. Schoolboy errors…
I'm a little concerned that all the noise both from within the club from Speakman and media has been around us needing GK, defence and striker cover - and nothing about midfield.
The lack of anything happening is starting to frustrate me now, Ballard injury hasn’t helped like, so short of numbers and already seen the back up largely isn’t up to it
