Don’t those figures illustrate which manager was backed in the transfer market more than any other in our recent history?
Is there a table showing our top 10 transfer fees received? I think it would comfortably dwarf this list
It does, but also shows the cost of competing in the Championship before COVID hit. You can spend a lot less now, and compete in this division, sadly, we are only doing one of the 2….
The figures don’t account for inflation, market value of similar players at that time, money earned from transfers/ST sales/gates/sponsorship/TV income/what league we were in etc during the different incumbents’ reigns. Houses cost less when GJ and Cotts were managers. So did players. In comparison it looks like Maynard was our most expensive signing when inflation and income are taken into account. It’s like pointing out that I spent more money on a pint of beer last night than ever before. That statement taken in isolation is factually correct - however, as a proportion of my income I actually spend LESS on a pint today than I did back in 1985 when a pint cost around £1 and I was on £5kpa. Lies, damned lies and statistics someone once said.
It's just a list of historical transactions, who and how much, the link is there to read, more information is an improvement of knowledge, people can deflect and reflect, nothing changes, as said it's all history.
However the financial gap between PP teams and non PP teams has grown, the P/P Clubs still get their millions whilst the rest have to manage with less and less.

This I completely agree with. FFP has also played its part. if it wasn’t for FFP I have no doubt that.NP WOULD have loads more to spend. We have to ride this season out and then there should be more cash available next season.
Oh stop it.. !!! Talking sense won’t cut it with some on here.. it’s all LJs fault why we haven’t managed to put a team out that play for 95 mins but can only concentrate for 15 of them and not see a game out without conceding goals, usually with 5mins to go..nothing to do with Nige’s setup, tactics, team selection or coaching our defence properly!! That authoritarian and expertise that comes across from Pearson is becoming somewhat tedious and lacking in direction.. I really hope he starts to address our weaknesses and fault's as, have said before, I actually think we have decent players, just not sure we are seeing the best from them as a team.
The season is only 3 games old, but I have a really bad feeling about it. God I sound like the type of fan I normally criticise for knee jerk reactions, it wasn’t that long ago I was predicting a mid table finish. Just depressed at our bad start I guess
I agree stop it.....!!! You can't blame LJ for what happened under the current management, he was sacked for failure and missing Lansdowns targets, 1.5 years ago, Nothing to do with Pearson.
I keep myself positive by reminding myself that we lost to Hull because of a ludicrous penalty decision and a fluke deflection. We should have got 3 points there. Sunderland we were just ****e. Today we got an away point today, so we probably should be on 4 - mid-table. I see Hull are currently top - there’s a lot of season left to go
Not really Ashton because players’ stock has fallen due to COVID - akin to a housing crash. I can see more gloom on the horizon too as the financial crisis begins to bite - people will think twice about spending £30 plus beer/food/parking/travel going to watch us - only to lose a game in the last moments of the match!!
