I wouldn’t even use 3 CBs against City or Liverpool, simply because of the space we concede in central midfield.
I said at HT today that JWP and Lavia were being outnumbered in midfield and Leeds were given time and space to cause us problems.
Give that amount of room to the top teams and you’ll be looking at another potential 9-0.

I think it is that it is a different skill set to organise yourself as a defensive three. And it requires work. It isn’t a case of an extra defender = fewer goals conceded

An example might be getting offside traps to work? Also isn’t there an expectation that you move around more - either one goes out wide or one pushes up into midfield. At least for some teams. Brentford and Wolves seem to manage just sitting deep with loads of defenders

This. When we were 2 down I was so hoping we'd fight back.

If we can’t do it against mid-table teams I don’t see why it would work against citeh or bin dippers.

I would rather have a decent CDM and an extra man in midfield. Control midfield and allow your attacking players to bother their defence, rather than inviting teams onto us. I realise that’s what wing backs are for, but we just don’t do it.

I honestly think Salisu would be better in a back 4. I don't think he's that comfortable on the left side of a back 3.

I’d like to think everyone was? And would regardless of how the other comments were going

perhaps there are people out there who wanted us to lose 4-0 to try and hasten Ralph out the door. Hopefully not many though! And I don’t think any here

There seem to be some defenders that just can’t do it. And the reverse as well. Such as Coady being bombed out of wolves because they want a back 4. They wanted rid so much they didn’t even try and sell him for a fee

In terms of natural ability, maybe. In terms of effort and commitment, he’s way ahead.

Didn’t know that. He was in the program, assumed he was on the bench

A 'normal' 2-2 and it is ok, but boring, but for those there, HOW good did that KWP goal feel as it went in :)

    I love football.

I really, really hope he can keep this up. One player you just can't help but root for.

Two things I like about Mara already.

    • THAT pass. Just simply sublime. I was level and behind him when he did it. Amazing.
    • He has great striker's hair

True, but from what I saw at the ground today, I am even more in the "utter bullshit" camp.

Salisu would be better without even changing anything in a back 4, impossible to always cover himself, Bednerak and Djenepo. Also, I think ABK would be a better partner for him too.

Odd, I'd have been grateful to get off the pitch in that heat! <laugh>
