I got a text off a mackem mate saying this :

"Crikey, this is dull. Newcastle play a similar style to Stoke... long balls up to the strikers, feeding off knock downs. Not pretty, but fair play effective"

HAHAHAHAHA has he even watched us this season? Granted, last night was all about quick balls to the flanks to break on the counter...but that's unlike any game we've played this seaason.

I doubt he's even watched us in any other game than last night and the derby.

****ing hate Stoke. Not sure who I hate though. I don't really hate the fans. Perhaps I wish they wouldn't tolerate the bullying and ****ty style of football, but if I were in their situation I'd probably roll with it as well. When you're supporting your team and it's winning you games, no one is really going to bat an eyelid.

I'd also say I hate the players, but can I really blame them for sticking to Pulis' tactics? He's told them to bully and rough up the players, and unless they all stage a major revolt against their manager based on morals, there's nothing they can do.

****ing hate Pulis though. Gobby annoying twat. I don't really hate any other manager cos I've had no reason to, but Pulis pisses me off. ****ty tactics and a ****ty attitude. The sooner he's out of the EPL the better.

Agree on Pulis, but I can't say I'm a friend of any set of fans that boo a player who had his leg broken by one of their own, and then boo and insult a player who was turned down and badmouthed by their own manager and board. Senseless. As I said last night, the Stoke fans on here seem good lads for the most part but that certainly isn't the general rule as was proven by the volume of their insults towards Ba last night.

There was crowd trouble as well last night which has been played down, from what I could get from the radio commentry it sounds like both sets of fans clashed in the stands where they were supposed to be seperated.

If it keeps stoke in the premiership I shall, as you say, roll with it.

Would we stay in the premiership by playing a more creative style?...... Probably but until Pulis changes we will never know.

What many people seem to fail to recognise is that football is not entertainment, it is a sport.... governed by rules rather than technical artistry.

Stoke's style of play may be ugly but it is just as relevant as using a tippy tappy style - For anyone that thinks differently perhaps you should watch ice skating which does have a score for how pretty it is.

Fans may pay their wages but for every stoke fan that stops going in protest their are 2 new fans who will take their seat at home.

I was going to write a thread today about Stoke City and their horrible brand of anti-football.

They are on a par with Sam Allardyce's Bolton Wanderers side <grr>

How people can say that's good for football is beyond me.

As I mentioned earlier football is not entertainment, it is a sport.

And what is sport? What is the point of sport? Oh yes, it's entertainment.

Football itself exists to entertain thousands of fans who attend and millions across the world. It relies on revenue from stadium attendances and the many who watch it on TV for entertainment purposes. Without that factor, football as a pro sport would not exist.

Fans don't just turn up for the goal moments. They turn up to watch 90+ minutes of football. It's the whole experience from start to finish. If you're happy watching that style of play, and truly find it entertaining, then by all means go ahead. I suspect the majority of fans would rather watch something a tad more exciting though.

As a Stoke Fan, I can see why you don't think football is entertainment! <laugh>

This! Me and my mate were using the advertising hoardings as a guide to how many yards they were stealing for throw ins. At one point, the ball went out on the last 'm' of 'williamhill.com' and he took the ****ing throw in from before the 'w'!

What are the rules on going backwards?

At one point, the ball went out by the corner flag, but Delap took the throw in from the edge of the 18 yard box.

Rule is that you take it where it went out. Obviously theres some leeway, but forwards or backwards the ref (or the linesman, which annoys me most, the nearest linesman should take responsibility for gaining ground on free kicks, throwins etc but never do) should have sent him back to where it went out.

Why is it that Stoke seem to be the only team to use a towel?, and surely there are more ways of playing the ball in. Can you imagine Barcelona doing that every time, Messi would go mad !.

Anybody else think Rory Delap is really ****?

I think I would rather us play with Perch in centre mid every game than have Delap lol

I've often said that he'd be in the Championship at best if Stoke didn't rely on his throw ins so much.

Yeah, I think that is probably the only reason why they play him. Even though the throw ins don't seem to work as much now as they used to
