Anyone any idea the formation we’re going to play, I assume Scott and Williams CM, with Weiman behind a front two of Martin and Conway?
Obviously we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, fitness levels etc, but I find it strange we have bought two RWB/RB’s that are both on the bench and then play Sykes as RWB, then what do I know we’ll probably shove my criticism down my throat, win 3-0 with Sykes scoring 1 with 2 assists
Goal! Goal! Wigan Athletic 0, Bristol City 1. Andreas Weimann (Bristol City) left footed shot from very close range to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Tommy Conway following a fast break
Of course until NP arrived Andy just used to run around a lot, nice to see NP getting the best from him
Weimann is becoming prolific.. I wonder if he gets sold on, disrupting any progress we try to achieve!!
It seems busting his ACL was the making of Weiman, he’s not been able to stop scoring since he came back
Is that 3 assists for Vyner now? , I still don’t rate him I must add, don’t think defensively he’s good enough for the championship. I’d be delighted if he proves me wrong though
Living dangerously since the drinks break.. We had been in total control.. concentration gets lost somewhere.. NP’s job to address this problem we have
It’s a regular problem most games, we can’t keep up our performance over a full 90 mins, our defending at times is woeful, we have to address it or we’ll be in big trouble
Wigan close to scoring at the end of the half.. my take is we give the ball away to easy. Need to learn to keep possession.. We are one up.. half time..
Half-time ratings Dan Bentley - 6 Zak Vyner - 6 Kal Naismith - 7 Rob Atkinson - 7 Mark Sykes - 7 Jay Dasilva - 6 Joe Williams - 6 Alex Scott - 6 Andi Weimann - 8 Tommy Conway - 8 Chris Martin - 6 (Bristol Post)
As in the first 2 matches we looked strong for about 20 minutes and scored a great goal on a pass from Conway. Then came the drinks break and we fell apart and allowed Wigan to gain a foothold which brought our indecisive play to the fore and the mistakes started to grow. The passes out from the back line were at times shocking and there was one play where the poor play from Vyner could have cost us dearly but to his credit he didn't give up on the ball and it was finally cleared away. Later in the half there were several times when we could have given up a couple of goals, based solely on poor decisions and passes, and sadly it has become too much a part of our insecurities that need to be addressed. To have a style of play is O.K. but it needs to be positive and not dictated by the usual script whereby we allow the opposition to take back control which creates panic and bad choices and usually means finger biting times for all us mere mortals. The possession stats changed dramatically in favour of Wigan after the drinks break and now we need to take control back right from the re-start and keep it until the end.
Was forced to play him up front dur to injuries etc. Not allowed to give a manager credit on here under those circumstances….. I wasn’t sure he’d be as prolific without Antoine to provide him with assists. Seems Vyner is taking his place
