Went to a Roma match on a stag do years ago. You could buy tickets at any Roma club shop in the city. This was 15+ years ago.

The current setup makes no sense, even if it made a loss in short term it makes sense to maintain a brand and commercial availability. SD cannot be this daft surely, maybe we're not getting the full story.

You can buy tickets to any AFL or NRL match here though Ticketek at pretty much any newsagency, or any other outlet. Think the A League is the same

So it's more than doable.....were 15+ plus years behind in that sense.....& Currently don't have a viable ticket office

If we were to adopt your example....it should just be buy in Sunderland...it should also be Durham, possibly other parts of the north east

We could even have a 'special' shop for mags to buy tickets in the away end<doh>

Absolutely, it's just like buying cinema tickets really. It shows what's available, and you choose where you want to sit, pay and then print. So doable.

The problem is control of who buys the tickets but I suppose as long as you have a supporter reference number or something similar then that should be OK but an open sale could lead to all sorts of problems. That said I am sure there are enough systems out there to allow th control of purchase and try to make sure only true supporters buy the tickets for the home matches

Yep, it's pretty much identical. They could have machines in the Bridges, Galleries, larger supermarkets and a few outside of the ticket office to reduce the queues.

And this is the problem with football. It seems to be the only code that segregates supporters due to a fear of things going wrong.

Most other sports opposing fans sit side by side, why is that not possible with football?

Has any of them sports had a problem with a minority of the supporters meeting up for a fight before or after the match?

I would hazard to guess that it's occurred with multiple sports. Just seems odd that only football tries to segregate the fans.

If it doesn't occur with other sports then it must be to do with fan mentality. If it's a minority of pissed up fans then maybe a ban on anywhere selling alcohol etc would discourage the knackers from their weekend away

I don't think other sports had a problem with hooliganism like football did. There will be fights etc at all sports but not like football suffered with a few decades ago.

So, thinking outside the box... If the fans are critical about how hard it is to get tickets then maybe some need to look at their own behaviour and consider that they may have contributed to the difficulties.

Please don't think i'm saying this is a SAFC problem but more a problem in football as a whole. I've been to professional sporting events in a number of countries and nver been asked to prove that i'm a supporter of 1 team or another to get a ticket in the "allocated end"

Exactly, plenty people now with customer numbers struggling to get. Allocate customer numbers as normal, go to shop buy ticket.

Could control customer number allocation via club only.....it's really not rocket science

A few years back did we not stop segregation for a Newcastle fixture at the SOL?

It's also the minority mate but I don't think football will change.

going back to the mess that is the ticket office / ticket problems.

in the queue yesterday, there were people whos season card worked for the first game but didnt yesterday!!

anyway my story....missed first game as i was on holiday, dudnt dare give my tickets to anyone due to the carry ons ive read. turned up, wemt little early on purpose. went to go in, boys cards wouldnt work, didnt dare try mine in case i got in they didnt. steward called someone in a suit. two options, ticket office or be given tickets in the concourse.....but id still then have to come back to ticket office later to sort it ffs.

thought, its 2pm might as well go now, decent size queue but not stupid....they know there's problems only 3 people on!!!! queued for an hour, checked cards told 2 were working & should have let us in, asked of i rsttled the gate!!! why?? i explaimed at no point did the card activate green, only stayed red, didn't recognise or whatever, stweard tried too. she checked to see if it appeared i was already in & i wasn't.

gave me 3 new cards, all sorted job done...an hour that took, 3.10 gets back to turnstile....new cards dont work...aaahhhhh...bloke says yer will need too....interrupted him...dont tell me ive gotta go to the ticket office mate, ive been, got new cards & they still dont work!!!!

he let us in, missed first 10 mins.

how the fxck can i resovle this for next game, already been to ticket office, sccounts checked & all ok, got new cards absolute fxcking joke in background this club

all i can do is email ticket office, probably wont get reply as know loads who haven't probably because dont have the staff. will copy Chris Waters in as he will likely do something....but that lad shpuld not have to be spending his time mopping up what shpukd be a simple give....i have season cards, replacements & still cant get into the game

sure there will be stories from others from yesterday.....club know theres problems no way shpuld people be queuing for an hour to resolve
