I honestly had never heard of him but seeing people who do know him, talk very enthusiastically about him and how he's a perfect fit in every way, playing style, temperament and rarely injured, I'm thinking I'd like us to go for him. We look overstocked in midfield but the reality is that's where the most injuries occur and it's starting to look like we don't actually have that many options.

Have to remember that Tchouameni was our number one target for the summer so it's clearly an area of concern. Talk of Bellingham next summer may mean that we're saving up for what will be a big spend there. Klopp has faith in Elliott, Jones and now Carvalho so maybe he really isn't considering bringing in an extra body.

Cant say I know much about him, similar to diaz and Nunez in that regard. We don’t tend to panic in the window and rarely go for short term fixes so if he’s one we were looking at for next season and wanted to bring it forward then go for it.

just don’t see it happening with the number of midfielders we have. Also have to think about wages, adding another 100k to the wage budget while not moving anyone out

Just had a look at two sites to see what wages Nunes is on at Sporting. Both say €10,000 a week. For comparison their highest earner, Trincao, is on €75,000. Can't see the problem being wage demands.

Matheus Nunes has turned down a move to West Ham as he wants to come to Liverpool.

That doesn't mean anything really. If Nunez is asking for X and the buying club think he's only worth Y, there's a problem.

You could be right. I just think that, as a young player and relatively unknown, he can't be asking for a massive leap in wages particularly if he's desperate to come here. Why would he put a block in his own way?

Last I heard he was on his way to Chelsea. Now he would be demanding mega bucks.

Yeah, I really don't know much about Nunes certainly not as hyped as Nunez had been but everyone seems to be getting excited online so I was wondering, is he really that good... Or is he just available.

I'd welcome strengthening of our midfield though, if he indeed does that.

True. But from our perspective, we may not want to even pay what they're after. Same for other clubs.

Young and relatively unproven. Would many pay upwards of £60,000pw...?

He was never coming here. I made it up completely last June knowing he was not on the list.

If we were to go for Bellingham, would he be recruited as a replacement for Henderson, and as Thiago is made of glass, who is around in their early 20’s to replace him, as we could do with them now.

Bellingham woud be sort of like Henderson/ elliott competition. this guy moves about as well and seeks space and attacking positions, he's a pass and move type player who would speed up the game.

he is also far form the finished article at this point.

Our issue here is achieving some balance.

Jones = converted LW/no 10 from youths as LCM
Elliott = converted RW playing RCM
milner - no disrespect to the legned but hes a winger who likes to run out there a lot and thats not really helping us.

ketia - the enigma. is he an advanced player, a sitting player or just a myth,.. who knows

    thiago is thiago
henderson wants to be running all over but legs are going

fabinho is left on his own at times and even he wants to go forward.

bellinham for me fits into the jones elliott, keita conversation.

nobody replaced wijnaludm is sitting and locking a side down bar Thiago.

    further to the above.

if we are to believe (and not many reasons why we would not) that tchouameni was the prime target for klopp:

First this guy is massively hyped and a massive presence in the centre of the park and alongside Camavinga this would be an absolute monster pairing.

the prime attributes that might have attracted klopp imo were strength, aerial power, tackles and ability to make interceptions.

however an ability to drive with the ball and take a shot may also have been something we lack (and we do lack it)

The difference between this player and bellingham is stark. we have many players vying for a similar sort of role as bellingham but you can debate who's best all you like......

My thing is that I do think tchouamendi was a target and a target for a very good reason. I do not see another target like him yet, i'd be more interested to find that next "right midfielder" than chase rumours of bellingham for the next 12 months. I have said a number of times i don't see bellingham ever playing for LFC due to the dortmund priceing policy

remember the touchy lad topped the interceptions charts across Europe last season, Amadou Onana has joined everton so if you want and even more impressive specimen of power here it is. he however lacks attacking ability.

i don't see that next name just yet but it will pop eventually.

I just think bellinghm again pushes the balance even further forward and thats not what was in the clubs mind this summer.

Given that our injury crisis is worsening, I really do hope that the club look to take a chance on someone, even if it’s on loan. I don’t want another season like 2 years ago, which is a distinct possibility with one or two more bad injuries.

Exactly my worry. The injuries persist after the transfer window closes and we are left scraping the barrel or throwing in the kids when they are nowhere near ready. Some opposition fans are already saying Klopp is repeating the mistakes he made in Germany by keeping players past there sell by date and not bringing in new blood. It has also been suggested that the way Klopp trains and plays his teams leads to more injuries.

I don't really care too much about what opposition fans think, and I don't know that there are too many players that we should have moved on earlier. There is a point for concern in my mind though, that he tends to be a little inflexible - he has his ways and is determined to stick to them even when a bit of re-thinking seems advisable.
The reluctance to buy a stop-gap player - even when sorely needed - is a case in point, although that could be a diversionary tactic.
Your last point about the high expectations put on the players' fitness is certainly valid though - it's been obvious since he first arrived. He requires strong and resilient players to make his methods work.
