I think there's also an element of some clubs not caring too much about what fans think (a bit harsh but can't think of another way of putting it) when you consider the move to form the super league for instance. Most fans wouldn't have been able to go to the away games but so much money was being poured in anyway that they were willing to forgo the ticket sales for those matches. It was okay to deprive the fans as long as the clubs kept making money from other sources.

When you've been a football fan for a long time it becomes almost like a drug that you can't do without. I guess some people even cut down on other things in order to leave them enough money to be able to go to or watch the game. Shirt sales are another example as every year we sell more and more. It becomes a circular argument.

you can still watch football ,there are plenty of streams out there on the net. If you can be arsed you can find every liverpool game out there being streamed live .However you need an ISP that doesn't throttle traffic and also wouldn't do it without a VPN.

The big clubs aren't reliant anymore on ticket sales, they want the fans in the ground for support that's all.

They might not be reliant but it is still an important revenue stream .

Money is money, but it's nowhere near the biggest revenue. I know it always gets compared to, but the bundesliga is obscenely cheap in comparison and they survive fine, so why are we getting ripped off.

I think when you do the maths, if you halved all ticket prices, the actual % of money the clubs would miss out on in comparison to all their other revenue is tiny.

May make a few million difference to the top clubs but would have a huge impact on fans.

Have to agree. People will still buy a pie and warm beer. There's no need for scalping fans.

What Fulham did to their fans at the weekend was disgraceful.

Think that's everything matchday, so also merch, food and drink etc.

Match day revenue last season projection was 94mil. (Not official number)

Commerical was 232mil as a projection. Just a projection.

Matchday doesn't just include the 77 pound rip off seats but the pies and beers too.

Last official figures were £3m in the year to 31 May 2021, obviously heavily impacted by covid. Pre-covid was £70m, so £94m is a big jump.

Commercial revenue was £217m, so £232m is also a decent increase.

thats the projections from the club based on the fact we won everything, played every game etc etc.

the commerical reflects new deals and more tv. the tv revenue was not included but total was 580mil which is a club record. we won't see til october officially

Nunes rejects West Ham. Interesting this one. He either really wants to come to Liverpool and there is something to the link or he's waiting for better teams than Wolves and West Ham to show an interest. We don't usually play our transfers out in the open and if there was genuine interest from us you'd think someone would be telling him to keep quiet. I'm reminded that Pearce and Gorst said that we definitely weren't in talks with Thiago <whistle>

What's everyone's thoughts on Nunes. Would you want him if Thiago was uninjured and unbreakable?
