I think a lot of this is the club needing to look like they are taking action. As people point out, they will not be enforcing the ID checks and will give up with the standing issue after asking a few times.

The only resolution is to create a safe-standing section in SMS, which they said yesterday is being worked on.

They start at the front, working back and if necessary start at the front again. If they have to keep asking the same individual they are eventually taken to one side to have a word, and the next time they are ejected. Statistically this means that the ones at the front standing tend to be the first ones to be ejected.

It's hard to envision any team selection that isn't a bit ****e tbh, so that scenarion is inevitable.

They're all frustrating, especially the ones who are occasionally good. But don't worry, there aren't many of those; most are useless. Joe Aribo looks good, so will inevitably frustrate.

If the league is serious about stopping fans standing in seated areas, the simplest way would be to use cameras and seat number to identify the person standing.
In the case of the fan being in the visitors area, then the data should be fed back to the visiting team, with the edict that they cannot buy an away ticket for the foreseeable.
If the fans switch seats, to avoid detection, that would cause a whole new problem, but I would imagine that there are punitive rules in place to prevent this, and those being caught out could still get punished.
Personally, I think it is safer to stand in the seated areas than it used to be on terraces with people pushing you from all directions, one of the reasons for me always trying to stand in front of a crush barrier, back in the day.

As long as everyone can have their gram of beak and call the ref a **** for 90 mins I don’t think anyone will mind too much.

All fans should be fitted with an electronic collar which detects whether the fan is sitting or standing. If they stand up for a prolonged time the collar sends a warning. If the warning is ignored it gives a small electric shock, which gradually gets worse.

What will the old men in the Chapel do when they need a piss?
This could put a stop to all those diiiiirty early leavers!
There would have been a high body count when we had that infamous game with Leicester that we don't talk about

    EDIT:
    Is it based on Altitude?
If it is it could be a problem for tall people and kids will be able to do what they like

Maybe it should be based on seat pressure. No pressure on seat for a minute and a drone shoots that space with a taser?

They will have a short window to have a wee and get back.

Although they could trick the system by crawling?

I think it’s an excellent idea!

Is pissing in someone's pocket or handbag still frowned on?

You will get a 5 minute window to calibrate for sitting height. If you miss this window then it assumes average height, so if you’re tall it’s an unpleasant 90 minutes.

Yes it’s based on altitude, so those in the upper rows are able to go to the bar/toilet. Sadly those in the upper row won’t be able to during match time. Perhaps those could be the cheap seats?

We re-assess after 1 season. If the ground is too smelly then we could supply buckets for the lower tiers.

This is becoming a dark, dystopian football future. (Still beats the addition of VAR though).
