He’s also a liar with an online persona but I’m not gonna go on about the prick cos I don’t want to derail the thread.
second best all over pitch for first whistle to last shows we still need quite a few in for squad depth
Just home from Sheffield Things that were good: O’Nien landing the ball on the roof of the South Stand Singing “We’ve got/lost the ball” for the last 5 mins Piss taking of that fat lad in the South Stand with his top off Things that were bad: Picking a team with no strikers Alex Bass Patrick Roberts Luke O’Nien Things that were utter dogshit Bailey Wright Aji Alese Jay Matete Landlady of the pub next to the ground trying to throw my 14yo son out for wearing his Sunderland shirt Got to get up for work in 6.5 hours. Marvellous
Just went through the stats. Aji Alese touched the ball 88 times and managed to give possession away 19 times. That’s an incredibly poor ratio for a centre back.
He looked like a lad who hasn't played a competitive game in months. AN treated it like a pre-season friendly, so the players followed suit.
I trust AN so will go along with all this. He obviously wanted to put certain players under the spotlight and make points. He seems determined to do things his way and that's where the buck stops.
My take on it was that he didn't want to risk his starting XI for Sat and I absolutely get that. He picked a team that might have won and had it won he would have been happy enough, but wasn't devastated that we lost
Exactly this, I hinted during the pre season that things were not quite right with our preparation, the two championship games made me look stupid to doubt this, I now believe AN had his team sorted before a ball was kicked in pre-season and his judgement fully justified. This game was never taken seriously, not just by AN but all the other Championship managers judging by the results. the league is obviously paramount. This match itself has been well analysed on here by others, and there is nothing more to say really, except to say that player's can't be fairly judged on that performance, and AN made that point in his after match statement. back to business on Saturday.
