Squaring the circle is the problem most clubs have, alas I don't have confidence in JL or JG.
Imo a few years back was the time we needed a 'Pearson' when it rained transfers.
Now after Covid we are in a totally different fiscal position.
Think it will be another frustrating season, whether we stay up is anyone's guess.

Agree with most of that, I’m hopeful we’ll be mid table, I accept it may just be early season wishful thinking, but I hope not.

I’ve no idea how other clubs function financially, but our model pre covid relied heavily on selling players at a large profit, and using the stadium for corporate events, and both of these dried up during COVID. The selling of players for s large profit is not going to return to pre covid levels for years to come, if ever.

Nige and his views on technology. To be fair, I think it's a good point. I know the Hull fans are calling us all bitter, and we are, to be fair, but for good reason. I haven't heard anyone outside the Hull camp think this was a penalty. I was watching Sky Sports News on Sat when it happened, Matt Murray was the at-the-ground commentator; he couldn't believe it, and neither could Jeff Stelling and Lee Hendrie (who never has a good word to say about BCFC) in the studio, all calling it a terrible decision. Then the EFL round-up, the host and Dean Ashton couldn't believe it either, yet the Hull fans say it was a stonewall.....

I was just studying headlines and developments over the last 7 days, obviously we have had a dismal start to the season, we have had (1) the manager trying to explain the failures and remedies,(2) Gould our CEO explaining the financial restrictions and lack of player movement inwards and out, (3) our owner Steve Lansdown stating the club is definately up for sale or outside investment if offered the right price, it's worrying we never get the 3 big guns all trying to rationalise our prblems on all fronts at the same time, is there something, good or serious developing?

And whilst all this is happening we have not heard a peep from our chairman, where is he? why no contribution fron him? has he been removed? he has become the invisible chairman - useless.

Relegation certainty according to that and on the first two games i cannot disagree.

Big changes in formation-substitutions-and players need moving on and replacing if that means selling it has to happen now.

It has been argued that we only lost to Hull because of an abysmal penalty decision given by a shocking ref - and an unbelievable fluke of a deflection.
Against Sunderland we were simply crap, but really we SHOULD be on 3 points.

Sadly the poor decisions made over the last 10 to 15 years are coming back to haunt us and at times during that period we were our own worst enemies. All of the time and money invested in the new stadium just down the road turned into a nightmare created by nimbies and only the lawyers came out ahead of the game. The vast numbers of supposedly winning players that came and went, and included in that bunch were top class goal scorers who either didn't like playing for us or who went on to better things, changed the dynamics of a continuously evolving squad. One of my biggest gripes was that Lansdown never went the extra distance to hire a well seasoned manager and by the time he finally woke up it was way too late to make a difference and so here we are being predicted as a good bet for relegation. The fairly large returns on investment generated by player transfers was never re-invested in new players designed to take us where SL apparently wanted us to go and today we are struggling to keep our collective heads above the waterline without any signs of a lifeline. I still think that Bristol Sports was a bad idea that has strangled the desire out of Lansdown to continue throwing money at a losing cause by saying basically he has had enough and wants out if the right deal comes his way. All of those hoping for a lift this season might have to alter their plans as it looks like a bumpy ride is ahead of us and if we don't show some spark of life in the next 4 or 5 games then I think heads will roll. If that should happen I can see us falling off the rails in a big way so all we can do is hope some sanity and responsibility returns to Bristol City. The time has come again to man up and face the cold hard facts that we are poor almost beyond belief and someone has to stand up and be counted if we are to get out of what looks like troubled times without the necessary resources to handle the onslaught.

Probably on another business trip to the US or the Caribbean. From what he's done for the club so far, which as far as I can see is nowt, I'd say that's the best place for him !

Personally think he does not fancy it and wants out and Steve is not getting any younger.Hence wanting to sell up.
I reckon it has been on the market for a while but no takers at present.

Uncertainty can be a real issue as it creates too many questions that won't be answered. Difficult times ahead unless someone gets some balls to deal with whatever faces us down the road. You only have to look around the leagues to see where doubt and uncertainty has taken some clubs and it's rarely upwards and onwards.

You are funny mate, views change from game to game...one minute its how Nige has improved the players the next, they're sh!t and need to move on....how about NP gets his formations, tactics and selections wrong and his coaching might not be all that? Imo its not always just the players that are at fault or necessarily the main problem...This is now his 3rd season with plenty of players departed and brought in...but we continue to make the same mistakes with hardly if any improvement..

This is not giving NP a pass, but what do you all expect honestly. Free transfers, over the hill players and league 2 players.... seriously. He has made 12 signings to keep the ship afloat and to address clear divides in the dressing room. He has spent less than a couple of million whereas Jnr had nearly 50m. All wasted. We have a squad where almost half of the 1st 11 are out of contract next summer and which is seriously light on players in vital positions. This is not NP's fault. In previous regimes where this bloody pattern has been repeated, we have been relegated. NP has kept us up and we have had some luck with other clubs having points deductions. The problems are deep rooted, will take time to address and realistically can only be addressed once FFP period is over. NP's only job is to keep us up this season. No more. And in respect of this interview, these journos are asking stupid questions. They need to change career.

Ahhh not playoffs then as you suggested a week or so ago?
LJ also was forced to sell his best players at a crucial time, didn't waste 50m, more or less made profit I believe..
Just because a player is out of contract next summer doesn't mean NP shouldn't be getting the best from them....that's very poor management IMO.
Too many excuses RR.....He should be getting much more from all his players.....according to you a really good manager......I've seen very little evidence of that.......The thing is mate, we have decent spells in games, but it all goes pear shaped.......his job is to get them to perform for 90+ minutes, not the odd 10.. IMO this is NP's fault..
I said at the beginning when he was appointed that he's arrogant, which I thought might have been a positive....but if I'm honest, it's all been a bit of a disappointment...
Needs to turn it around quickly, because fans will start to pile pressure onto him.....with good reason!

He signed the "over the hill players you mention", and the L2 players. You are 100% giving him a pass! Sunderland didn't spend much money in the summer, nor Hull, and both of them have seen us off. The reality appears to be that NP is not a great judge of players when it comes to transfer deals and pretty much refuses to use the loan system. All point to a manager who is not on the right page. You keep defending him to the hilt if you like; there is a growing majority on here now who, like me, think that NP may be well past his best and living off his days at Leicester. If we lose our next 3 or 4 (which we could) he could well be gone. He's already saying his 3 years to get to the playoffs needs to be extended.
