No not that tired who's the better midfielder arguement. This is fresh and new angle; who will be sacked first?
love it. lets see how many wise arses make comments here when people are just trying to create content for their enjoyment Lampard
exactly, plus there should be no way the author should then make snide comments at people who appreciate the effort
Everton are quicker to fire people, but Lampard probably has a better connection to the fan base... so far. But they can turn toxic quickly and the Everton squad isn't as good. So Lampard.
Heard on radio yesterday that apparently Gerard’s record at villa is the same as Neville’s was at Valencia. not sure if that’s 100% true or not. Pretty poor if so, although I’d say villa werent in a very good place when he took over. Spent quite a bit of money on signings so think if villa aren’t pushing top half this season coukd be in trouble.
It's identical but out of that he's lost 14 games including lfc and city twice plus Chelsea, arsenal and spurs. The only bad results were watford, Bournemouth and man utd If you lose games you are expected to by most neutrals but still get the sack then your club has unrealistic expectations and that's the definition of villa really. The side looked a bit flat at the end of last season like the job was done. Got a few poor results like 3-3 v Leeds or losing to Watford. They need to pick it up and show they give a stuff.
Think have to also take into fact that once those mid table clubs are safe from relegation, end of season results can be a bit iffy. Now a good manager should be able to motivate players to put effort it until the end, but we all know there is a slight drop once you’ve managed to survive
Yeah I got the feeling in the last part of last season that they weren't as motivated as they could have been, and that has to be at least partly down to Gerrard. Given the money spent, the aim has to be challenging for Europe rather than just survival, surely?
Stevie has always seemed to be a personality vacuum to me. He led by example on the pitch but I just don't see him having those leadership qualities from the managerial seat. I'd be very surprised if he ever makes it as the manager of a top club. Mind you, Lampard has all the charisma of a month-old lettuce as well, so it's a toss-up as to who exhausts the patience of their club/fans first.
well ESP with a new manager (november) if you dropped off like that you'd be fearful of being turfed out by klopp. Gerrard seems to have just accepted it quite a bit. a drop is natural unless you've got ambitions as looking down at position 18 and going phew is not what villa supposedly want. They were 14th in the end and newcastle ended up 11th. Newcastle seems to have the better attitude to it as they all thought they'd be replaced this summer i bet. there was only 12 points between villa and west ham say. thats then massive increased expectations and drive for the new season. Getting rid of that kind of attitude is really difficult imo. I've heard villa fans talk about how rich thier owner is and how big their budget should be like as if top 6 was there for taking.
Saw that stat doing the rounds on social media a few days ago. Think the a Valencia side Neville took over was better than the Villa side Gerrard took over. Plus, the PL is a tougher league imo because almost game is tough match whereas there are some walk overs in La Liga. Pressure will be on Gerrard this season now he's built his own team although this is his first full season with them.
Ultimately is anyone that bothered? Currently neither look to be top top managers. Lampard made the mistake going to Chelsea too early and ruined his chances there. Gerrard gets talked up for the Liverpool job, which is pointless as it's at least 4 years till Klopp leaves or hopefully extends. So Gerrard needs to focus on his own career and likewise we need the right man when Klopp goes, which currently would be Pep Ljinders imo.
Gerrard results: Brighton H win Palace A Win City H loss Leicester H win Liverpool A Loss Norwich A win Chelsea H loss Brentford A loss Man utd H draw Everton A win Leeds H Draw Newcastle A Loss Watford H Loss Brighton A Win Southampton H win Leeds A win West Ham A loss Arsenal H Loss Wolves A Loss Spurs H Loss Leicester A draw Norwich H Win Burnley A win Liverpool H Loss Palace H draw Burnley H draw City A loss bournemouth A Loss Out of 14 losses there are 9 losses there that a mid table side has to "suck up" even is some are at home. those are top 6 games and villa are not near that stadnard. Yes teams like arsenal are nore great but there you go. Maybe thats a bit too kind and MAYBE you'd want to convert those to draws as a good manager but not too many were hammerings. theres 5 bad losses in there though, once that are not that acceptable if a side is pushing.
I haven't paid much attention to Villa, how chop-happy are they? Everton seems to average a manager every season or less, so we know they're chop happy. Both managers have a summer to make the club their own now. No excuses going forwards.
