well they did! at what point did they start losing money? the covid crisis might have been the last straw that tipped them into insolvency but they had done the damage before that imo. Was it when neymar fcuked off and the mad wages chasing stars started? Coutinho, greizmann, dembele?
Problem for Barca is they are also constantly trying to compete with Madrid. So it’s not enough to rebuild over 5 years otherwise madrid go and win 5 more titles and managers get sacked.
They used to pride themselves/arrogantly bores us all about la masia and how great these players were Zavi busquets iniesta But in reality they were neymar suarez messi up top and really buying buying buying. No home grown players until fati, gave, petri amd even then they seem determined to buy them.out of the side.
So Man U are going for Arnautovic, apparently. I just don't understand the club's policy of buying past greats (and not so greats) all the time. How can you build any long-term stability that way?
One of the nicest things about a Monday is garry neville chewing wasps over man utd signings. Quite a few seem rather perplexed by their sudden panic.
"So what's your problem?" "A toxic dressing room ravaged by personality clashes, massive egos and drained confidence." "And your proposed solution?" "Marko Arnautovic."
Comical innit? Still, when your previous includes Zlatan and Ronnie, Arnautovic's ego probably seems quite modest.
Per article: Before the game, Ten Hag urged supporters to be the 12th man against Brighton. The fans complied and became the 12th man, unfortunately for United they became Eric Cantona and beat each other up.
Rabiot is equally funny. They just got rid of a Frenchman with an attitude problem, for free, and are paying for another one that isn't as good.
their whole recruitment system is pretty shocking. fact that ETH came in and immediately signed a player he managed at Ajax. Another from Feyenord, another that he worked with in Eriksen. Obviously want De Jong sho he worked with at Ajax, and now arnautovic that mclaren managed in Holland. He either doesn’t trust the current set up there in which case have to wonder if there’s going to be a big shake up there. or they have just no real forward planning and aren’t scouting players properly to match a philosophy that they want to play.
You'd wonder how they go and seek the man out so..... surely, then provide nothing like the team he'd need and he seems to have no new ideas either. Maguire just will.never ever ever suit his style. People are finally starting to whisper what I've said about de gea out loud. He is NOT the keeper for a high line They go rob eriksen off brentford but already had fernandez.a guy who's recovering from an awful life changing incident but is just not what they needed. Now they go get another 33 year old who I cannot understand why they want. I just dont see the plan here still. High press team???
This is not recent. They were the biggest spending club in the world from 2009 for a few years. The cost of their squad under Pep was ridiculous.
A fair appraisal. Though I don't have a problem with Ten Hag going for players in a league which he's familiar with at the start of his tenure. But it does confirm our scouting system is shot to bits and he doesn't have much faith in it. Tbh I don't blame him. And yeh a broader shake up (I hope from him) is needed.
Doesnt help that he’s only familiar with a league that is notoriously risky in transitioning to the prem. I’d imagine the success rate of players moving to england from Holland is below 50% and quite a few big failures.
Also realistically fans need to give him time and realise it is many years away from being where you want to be.
